I'm an advertising/marketing copywriter, an online copy editor, a freelance entertainment reporter, and a professional public speaker and speaking coach.

Even in those relatively sedate occupations, you'd be amazed at how many times a day I need to cut something.

Just started my 30th year in software development. Never a dull moment.

Just had my 20th anniversary as a FF/EMT for the largest commercial airplane manufacturer in the US:D I also work as the patrol manager for a local security company. I carry a knife and multi-tool on both jobs and use them daily.

I am a 2IC Butcher in a major supermarket chain and am currently looking for a great edc. Use the CRKT M16-LE at the mo but am waiting on my subcom to arrive and also considering a CQT 304 by tops to replace my M16.

I use it for cutting open boxes of snags and packing straps and also for opening bags of meat when I don't have my guns on. Due to meat processing requiring razor sharp blades I don't use my boner etc to open the boxes lest I come off and get a shelf and chip my blade. That really sucks

Hey Waldganger, what sort of knives do you use for work?
I always wondered what Butchers use as they give their knives a workout every day.
I realize you run them over a steel all day long but what brand are they and how do they perform mate?

I use mass production knives, swibo, by wenger, because work can supply them and they are fairly reasonable to use

boning knife
steak knife

I used to burn through the boning knives every six months, and that is the second steak knife I've had, but I just learnt yet another way to sharpen your knife, except this time there is very little blade wear so I am going to invest some time into looking for a good custom made knife, most likely retaining the blade/handle design seen here

I work for the financial arm of a very large International company, you see our commercials on TV every day. My EDC doesn't get a whole lot of use but it's with me anyway.

I'm a Phlebotomist at a major hospital...cover all units including ICU's and ER...firefighter/EMT by trade

So I'm assuming you don't use your EDC when you draw blood?:D
(plebotomists are the guys who draw blood samples.)

I have a B.S. in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University. Graduated and got laid off a couple of times from "real" jobs. Jumped in a truck in '94 and have been doing it ever since. Been to all of the lower 48 and to B.C., Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. It's a real pain in the ass being away from family and friends but I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle a desk job. It would drive me insane. I pay no rent or utilites 'cept for internet and cell phone. I can take my time off wherever I please.......Vegas baby! :D

I manage a paralegal team in a real estate law firm in Boston. I get all the fresh grads who can't shave, tuck in their shirts, or answer a phone with out saying "Yo." I train them(break them) and make damn good paralegals out of them...just in time for other departments to poach them, and replace them with some other mouth-breather...It's a paycheck.

Manager of engineering for a broadcast television station. Weekend instructor of whitewater kayaking though that has mostly ground to a halt with small children at home.

Carrying and using folders all the time. A fixed blade SR Howling Rat goes in a EDC bag to work.

I love my job!

I work in an East Kentucky coal mine About 1.5 miles into the mountian ;) I run a shuttle car , hauling coal from the miner to the belt, to the outside ,to the power plant & into your home thats where your lights come from !
I MINE COAL & YOUR WELCOME ! :D

I've had a variety of jobs. Pen Salesman, Skip-Tracer (On the financial side, before it basically became as illegal in NYC as being a drug dealer), and my current job as a Security Guard.

My current job is boring.... as in watching paint dry. Since I work 3rd shift, I'm more of a Night-Watchman than a Guard. I work in the widest office building in Manhattan. Ironically, the Executives are quite polite to the security staff. The ones who think they can treat you like $#^t happen to be messengers, delivery people, and others who actually make less money than me.

The worst one was a Mailroom Clerk who works in the building. The day after this past Christmas, he forgot his company ID. Doesn't matter who you are, you forget your ID; you go through a very simple 2-stage Sign-in process..... Quess who thought he was too good to Sign-in? Yeah, a freaking mailroom clerk who obviously thinks he's more important in this world than he actually is.

He became verbally obnoxious, and tried to shove his way past me. I'm a big guy, and he's bigger than me! But when he realized he couldn't intimidate or bully me, he threatened to have me fired.... but only after he finally showed me his ID. Best part, my Supervisor told my Manager what occured; and nothing happened! Unlike some of the guards I work with, I don't screw around on the job. No way I'm losing my job over some obnoxious mailroom clerk. :)

I was wondering what everyone does for a living from here?

I'm a hydrographic and topographic surveyor for a dredging company. My knives get used for cutting rope, clearing bush, stripping wire, cutting cable ties, etc.... I usually carry a Leatherman wave and some kind of fixed blade (length depending on the laws of the country I'm working in).

I am a high school student currently in grade 11 who washes dishes in a Chinese restaurant. It's not bad, but it could be better ;)
