What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It has been a while. We sold our house in a high market, lived out of suit cases for a few weeks and just moved into the new place. All my knives have been in storage except for 4... a case, 2 bucks and a victorinox. This one has been the one most carried and used of late - who knew that the buck 110 cheapo could be such a fantastically handy tool?!

I was pleased with this one. It was even more inexpensive than it is cheap, it's more stoutly built than a Rada and it has a blade protector. My travelling kitchen knife.

That looks ideal for the job Jer
You have a very sweet treats with those two mid-week slicers, Jack; the coffee and ginger nuts combo looks mighty tasty, too! 😁:thumbsup:
Thank you very much my friend :)
Hope all are having a good Wednesday!

That's some quality wood :)
Toting these two fragrant French slicers today. :)
I love the smell of Juniper in the morning! :D Great to see those two fragrant French slicers JJ

Thanks Gary! That wallet is really cool!
Thanks, Todd. :)
I had looked at that wallet several times in the store, and when it showed up on clearance one day, I couldn't pass it up.

Pleasant pair; that dark-bolstered Barlow is striking!:cool::thumbsup:

Very fitting to see that old Tree Brand in a tree, Rachel!:cool::cool:

One of Jeff's Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund knives in his picture above is an Easy Open Jack, which reminded me of my Imperial Easy Open Jack so, I'm gonna tote my Imperial Easy Open Jack with green bone covers today. Too early for a beer Jeff so, I'm raising a cup of coffee to you.

Really great classic pattern, ED!:thumbsup::cool:

I’ve never thought of a knife wallet before. I suppose it would be like using a “caddy” that I’ve seen a lot of.
...
I like your wallet Gary :)

I'm the kind of guy that needs some help to keep organized. ;)

Thank you Gary, it's looking a lot better :) I'm probably going to add a few more coats, a slow process with pur tung oil, but it's pleasant to use

My middle-name! :D Oh, actually, I forgot, it's 'Danger'! :D :D Honest! ;)
...
I remember that using tung oil on a reshaped Opinel handle involved lots of waiting between coats.
Now I'm confused, Jack. Is your middle name "Well-prepared", or "Danger", or "Honest"?? o_O😁 I've told people that "Fashion" is my middle name, but few seem to believe me.🤓

Every inch of land here is privately owned, so for most of the country access is very limited. Stiles are often badly maintained, covered in barbed-wire, or missing altogether, and they can be downright dangerous, as I found out just before Christmas when a badly broken stile caused me to injure my back, and I was in agony over the holiday. If I hadn't had my walking staff with me, it could have been a lot worse :(

I would love to wander like that :)

Thanks for the stiles links and this Roy Rogers link. I've seen this clip with Roy and Trigger several times, and always enjoy the horse tricks (and Roy remounting to ride about 6 feet to the stage before he sings).:thumbsup::cool:

Shrade 893 today.

Really like that clip/sheep jack, and the big sky photo!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Carrying one of my @jsdistin re-built and re-covered Sheffield Lambs today, with giraffe bone covers, and a Random Tuesday RR Carbon Scout. Have a good day everyone

I hadn't seen that RR carbon steel scout anywhere before; looks quite appealing with its blue "gaskets".:cool::thumbsup:
What's your opinion of it, Jack?

That's a handsome brace of copperheads, Jer!:cool::thumbsup:

Yes, the pure stuff takes a while to dry. LOL! :D I'm afraid that my middle-name is actually Arthur, but I continue to work hard to change it! :D ;)

They are such consummate performers aren't they? :) I also enjoy the part where Roy re-mounts, Horsewright Horsewright told me that the early Californians were in the saddle so much, they even built their houses on horseback! :D

I hope you bought low. Probably not possible.

I didn't carry it this year. We have favorite eateries in Erie PA (both closed this year) and there are knives at the camps.
That's a handsome brace of copperheads, Jer!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks. I'd been thinking maybe I might be a jack knife guy rather than a stockman guy after all, and there was the black one on special at a non-participating dealer, and it was available for a limited time only, so...
Then somebody in Case 1095? quoted somebody saying that the SS is much softer than the CV (I suspect the quotee was from customer relations rather than metallurgy, anyway I don't believe it). And CK had the CV in stock at an even better price than the guys with the specials I've been in the habit of checking, and the copperhead is still on its way back into the vault, so...
It will be interesting, at least for me, to see how this develops. I didn't expect to fall in love with the first one, and I sure never expected to be carrying both of them every day.

Thanks Jack! That's a beautiful stag pair you have with you today.

I'm carrying a cattle knife and muskrat today. I have a question for the porch on the muskrat. My dad gave this one to me about 20 years ago, its a 70s era knife. How did it end up with two different scales? Was this something they did or an error? He told me this is how the knife came out of the box when he purchased it. Happy Thursday to all!

Beautiful covers on that Sowbelly... I miss Ron.
We've had Shelties and Border Collies for over 30+ yrs
Both are excellent breeds.
We've had one Sheltie, he was such a good dog.
We've had several Border Collies, and they really are the smartest breed.
I wouldn't mind seeing that one in different poses every day. :)
I have been way too busy doing nothing to get anything done .
I can't wait until I reach that time of my life. ;)
That one really does look better with age, Joshua. 🤠
Wonderful pair of Lambs, Jack... and well photographed. 🤠

I have a couple knives like that, with one side much darker. I always thought one side was in the sun on a dresser-top for too long, or the knife was always carried same side out in the pocket. If it came out of the box that way, I would guess a variation between dye batches.
But that is an uninformed guess, like most of my guesses.

Nice photos!

Received the awful news of a shipmate I sailed with during my time in Bahrain had passed. Life perspective moments occur far too often and too easily forgotten in our day to day lives. Fair winds and following seas to those that have come before us and are no longer with us.
