Would love to find a good, clean original Soldier model Swiss Army Knife.

I might be able to put you in touch with someone who has an excellent 1982 if he hasn’t sold it yet UK.
I was considering it for myself but I already have quite a few.

Mentioned the sawcut in my bladeforums knife wasn't as pronounced as I hoped for so Duane sitflyer sitflyer gifted me his. That's right, gifted. OG traditional. This shot doesn't show how much nicer the sawcut is (it is) as was interested in showing off the nice patina Duane started, I added to and stropped the edge. Thanks my friend.

I believe that knife is where it belongs to be, destiny...

P.S. I think that steel has developed an appetite for Macintosh apples, my personal favorites, always best in the fall and early winter months.

Thanks, I have a couple of the Alox models. I’m on the lookout for the change in the 40’s or 50’s when they put the sharp edge on the inside of the screwdriver/scraper.

B BrotherJim inspired me to gather up my Case yellow cv's today, wish my photos were as good as yours! I caried the peanut as I often do.
(Peanut was a gift from my wife, 32087 pen was a gift from my oldest daughter, sodbuster jr. from my youngest, and slimline 31048 was a recent purchase.)

That's a GREAT picture. Better than most of mine for sure. I think I really like that slimline !!! :)

Couple Old Timers for Thursday...the trapper in pocket today and remembered the stockman in my back pack so teamed them up for a quick shot on the tail light...cheers peoples!
I get more pleasure from seeing (and using!) these knives and their kin than new ones.
I might be weird.

The clip is the worst, of course.

Except,

I wonder if this was one of those saber on one side, flat on the other side clip blades, and my predecessor really, really couldn't stand it.
Really makes you scratch your head sometimes, huh?

Ha, thanks B BrotherJim ! I was pleasantly surprised at how great it is, nice w&t, no gaps, centering is slightly off favoring the nick side but a few of my case trappers are like that and I don't have to be gentle when pushing with a thumbnail to open the longer blade (if that makes sense). Now all I have to do is remember to start using it. 😞

It's a thing with me for blades to be centered. Most Case knives I've purchased in the last several years have REQUIRED blade centering. I generally use a mallet ... with the blade of the knife opened to 90 degrees, or half-stop if it has one ... and ping the blade with the mallet with the knife laying flat on a table on its side, to encourage the blade to center when closed. It doesn't take much blade movement near the tang to make a "big" difference out at the tip.

Thing is though ... while my Sod Buster (full size) centering was WAY off and the blade almost into the liner ... I.could.not. get the thick blade to budge using the mallet method. So what I had to do was open the blade 90 degrees, secure the handle in a vice at the blade pivot pin and manually pull on the handle in the direction it needed to go. I soon got good results. Not centered perfectly, but close enough for "government work" and I could perfectly center it with time and effort. Far as I'm concerned, it's good to go LOL.

EDIT: DISCLAIMER ... mallet method is not for the faint of heart. I shattered a blade on a $100 knife this past summer in one mallet smack no harder than I usually smack. So try at own risk..
EDIT: DISCLAIMER #2 ... The vice method worked perfectly fine for the Sod Buster, but may not work for other knives. I guess one could tighten the vice so tightly the bolsters are pushed together so much it "locks" the blade down. D'OH !!! ... but again, no problem with the Sod Buster and I tightened it pretty good. Proceed at own risk.
