The large A.Wright and slightly larger #23 ought to do.
The 23 served me well yesterday in trimming out two - half bushels of beets for canning.View attachment 1688359Have a decent day, huh?
Terrific trio GaryJust for a change of pace this week, I'm going to post the knives I'm carrying for the week with the categories in reverse order!

Lambsfoot of the Week is a stag senator pattern I won in a GAW several years ago (thanks, @R.c.s ). I call it Man Jack.

Such a splendid stag knife, José, with the dapper little man by the river on the blade!
That's a very insightful question!...
Why carry just knife?
Gus, you are on an incredible roll lately with the delectable vintage knives!
Good thinking, John; lotta different ways to get people involved with a given topic!...
Hmmmm... Now you have me thinking.
My 11th Grade Core class (Language Arts and History) got to play Battleship for the last half hour of class. It was right before the Thanksgiving break, so they were not motivated to listen to a lecture. I said, "Okay, if the Principal walks in and asks what we are doing, tell him we are studying WWII Naval strategies."
Look... Somebody left a Hartshead laying around.

Case Sowbelly & Victorinox Compact
It's probably because of the holiday season that's upon us, but that knife of yours always reminds me of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, even though I realize Scrooge's late partner was named Marley, not Morley.
Yeah, I tend to be kind of a control freak, and I suppose these seasonal "mistimings" of leaf fall and snowfall are a reminder that I need to be patient and relax, since there are so many things over which I really have no control at all, despite all my arrogance plans!I always have this problem here in MN, because it almost always snows at least one before all the leaves have fallen. Hasn't been too bad this year, but we did get a light snow a week or so ago, and I had to rush to at least deal with the leaves in the front yard. I still have a lot in the back to deal with:
Very clever, Jack!...
Grate photo Gary![]()

Sorry to hear your shoulder kept you from playing softball, Todd. I played on at least one team every summer from 1975 through 2017. But I had a cataract that was getting so bad in 2017 that I started to worry about fly balls hitting me in the face, so I sat out 2018. I had cataract surgery in January and March of 2019, but there were complications so I told my church team I couldn't commit to playing that summer. Then 2020 was COVID and the "athletic complex" at which we played closed before the 2021 season, so I didn't play last summer either. At least I'm back to playing basketball again, wearing masks - but I can play without glasses now!Yeah I miss those days also, a shoulder injury ended my playing days way too soon. I need to take my wife to that brewery sometime soon also because her tastes are similar to yours Gary. It’s a fun place with a beer style for any taste.
Thanks Gary, you got me again, had to look up “Boffo.”![]()
Yowza! I hope tomorrow I get to eat some dinner rolls as golden brown and tasty as that pair of vintage knives, Steve!!
So you're still using a shredder your grandparents used in the 60s? That's fantastic!Thank you X 2, Gary!
Back in the sixties, Grandpa & Grandma subscribed to Rodale’s Organic Gardening and Farming magazine. From an ad in the back, they bought a Kenp garden shredder. It won’t handle sticks and stringy weed stems, but it’s a champ on dry leaves. Chopped up fine like that, they break down into compost fast. Of course, I have to add greens/nitrogen in. Unshredded leaves take way too long. This stuff will be next spring’s seedbeds.
Shady Oaks Bombers slow pitch softball?
When I first read that, I read Shady Oaks Rest Home. I think I’m feeling my age today!![]()
Congrats on the Moki! These three have been used around the house this weekend. The Moki is new, I have wanted one for a few years.
