At the risk of sounding too cynical, someone might have been intending to re-stamp them with a more rare/valuable name.
It's a double Boker day for me:

Both are possible.Or maybe it was a second? Or Camillus Xed over or ground off a lot of tang stamps when they were going under. Some of them are unfinished, and a few of them look fine.
Fancy Bear Claw! You inspired me to join you in a double Boker day!

My thought too. I have a USA Schrade that has the stamp ground off and was sold as a second.Or maybe it was a second? Or Camillus Xed over or ground off a lot of tang stamps when they were going under. Some of them are unfinished, and a few of them look fine.
I think I see what you mean. That looks worn from use, which doesn't square with unused or NOS.But the tang stamp is still there, just smeared to be illegible. I think I can still make out “Prov. USA”. Here’s a pic...
Chalk that up to my inability to hold the ifone steady enough for a close up.I think I see what you mean. That looks worn from use, which doesn't square with unused or NOS.
It's funny John, if I have them at home, I would always add ketchup, but I wouldn't think of adding ketchup if I buy them from a fish and chip shopCool pic, Jack.![]()
But I think your chips need some ketchup.![]()
It’s clearly been polished out on a buffing wheel with some grade of buffing compound. It has the high gloss ripples. Plus, there is none of the rubbing from opening and closing that all knives get with use.
Hey! Would you like it? Like I said, it’s nice, but I’ll never carry it because I have others.
Send me a PM and it’s yours. Maybe you can figure out the mystery!
