You can buy inexpensive rubber seals, which fit below the fuel chamber. They stop the fuel drying out as fast. It's a design flaw unfortunately. You can also replace the entire fuel chamber with a butane insert. One type burns with a flame just like a Zippo flame, the other has a more concentrated jet. They cost about the same as a Zippo. Another solution is to carry the fuel separately, Zippo make a small cannister which will fit on a key-chain. Yet another solution is to buy a Bic, but of course they don't have the Zippo cool factor!![]()
Thank you both for the insight and informationJack Black gave a good answer. About all I can add is that I’d use a Bic or other butane lighter for storage/emergency use, and tote the Zippo for class and style
And keep a bottle of lighter fluid around!
Nice collectionThe red one isn't girly, it's tactico-stealthy.![]()

I think Zippos also lose fuel from the wick space. But there's nothing like that opening "ping" of a Zippo.
Only in Whitby while my dad was at RAF Fylingdales.I didn't realise that, I thought you had been born in Whitby!![]()
I’ve been around the block, but that last bit eludes me.Wow.
I had to send away to Llamaland for my last tin of lighter fluid.
I miss gazing through flame. Peeling a woman's carrot just isn't the same.
That brass one is cool. You trying to get me to start looking at lighters on the bay now?The red one isn't girly, it's tactico-stealthy.![]()

Yes I have way to many Rabbit holes lol .Merry Christmas to you as well!
I got mine for five bucks at the flea market.
I have spare flints, and plenty of fluid, so as I see it, I’m set. I don’t dare go down that rabbit hole of even looking at other ones! If/when I lose this one, I can look for another. I can be bad about accumulating things.
Boy, that’s a fine one. I’d call it a vintage traditional. Yes, I use a utility knife~ uglier than yours~ because there are things I hate to abuse my knives on~cardboard, drywall, tarpaper etc.
I hope it comes out like this~

To attempt a Christmas-ish color theme, I’m using a Camillus stockman I re-handled in smooth elk. It’s close enough to white to pretend. It was either that or one of the Camillus jacks in Ivoroid, which is also sort of white.View attachment 1706173And Manny says Merry Christmas.View attachment 1706174
Good luck buddy, hope all goes well.I really did carry all these yesterday. I'm wearing cargo pants again today, but I've got a CT this afternoon. I expect they'll indulge me a little, but maybe not this far. Anyway, my pants pockets will probably be in a locker.

Just to establish my cleverness, I expect them to find that I'm internally bleeding my best for Eliquis, which should be an easy fix. And maybe something else, but maybe not.
Love the look of those Micarta offerings Mike, so much so I have a copperlock that is supposed to arrive today.
Oh wow, love that ornament! Hope the Hawks play better tonight than the Bucs did in their last game. Of course, that wouldn’t take much.
That’s a gorgeous pair of knives!
Nice canoe JB, is that a beer barrel?
