I knew the Small Texas Jack was going to make an appearance today. 🤠
Hope your last day before break goes smoothly and quickly... enjoy the Peanuts movie.

Off topic question. What is the secret to keeping a zippo from drying out? I keep one in my truck bag and it is dry within a couple days of adding fluid?
Thanks

Best solution: Replace the insert with a refillable butane insert. They make a single or a double flame one. I'm happy with the single.
You can find the inserts directly from Zippo or at that huge sized online store.
Outside of that, you could try cutting a band from an old bicycle tire tube to place over the lighter and seal the fluid in.

Great discussion and photographs of Zippo lighters Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund , Jack Black Jack Black , screened porch screened porch , RLB0414 RLB0414 , TheFactor TheFactor , and B BrotherJim . Tony Bose gave me this Zippo a couple years ago. I have intended to buy a butane insert to use it to light cigars. Tony loved a good cigar. He used to say that if you could not smell cigar smoke on a knife from Wilfred Works it might be a fake!

Of course, I also agree with you guys that it is best to also carry a Bic or two and not put full reliance on a Zippo! Just like it is always a good idea to keep a few Case knives around regardless of what you like to collect.

Speaking of Case, JohnDF JohnDF , that is a great Saddlehorn! One of the best examples I have seen of one of Case’s best patterns, thanks to Tony Bose. Was that some type of SFO? I have not seen that etch before.

That is a gorgeous Case/Zippo trapper B BrotherJim . I hope that one day, some how, GEC could learn to do jigging like Case.

Not carrying this Zippo trapper today but since Zippo lighters are a theme for the last few posts what the hey. But who knows !! I might drop it in my back pocket once I finish my coffee and get my jeans on. Kinda strange I haven't had a reply from my e-mail to Fruit of the Loom about adding a pocket to their "Tighty Whities".

Nice canoe JB, is that a beer barrel?
You are correct, thank you. I like it a lot, there is a scratch on the back of the primary from where it rubbed, doesn’t bother me a bit.
Both are beautiful and compliment each other nicely. 🤠
Thank you, John. That reinforces what I’ve been trying to do - which is instead of just one, choose the knife I want to carry (15 today) and something that compliments it well IMO (Boker Canoe).

I’ve got the same butane insert but haven’t used it yet Been just using the old school fluid because I like the smell and reminds me of when I was just a kid lol 😁

I only have the one butane insert. I chose the single because refills last longer. Also have a dozen Zippo lighters with the original inserts.
Another downside of the original inserts is during long term storage, the flints degrade badly and are nearly impossible to remove.
After I discovered that problem, I remove all flints if not using the Zippo for a long period of time ... such as years.
Oh, and some Zippos I bought new and simple stored ... the sticker labels on the new Zippos also degrade, become hard to remove and leave ugly residue and marks.
... so I also remove any sticker labels immediately when purchasing a new Zippo ... as well as remove the flint ... If I'm just going to store the lighter for possible future use.

Concerning the butane insert, I like there are no flints to ever replace. I've had to gently adjust the spark "nozzle" for best aim when activated.
And I had to take the bottom plate off ... just two little phillips screws ... to realign the flame adjustment screw for better range of flame adjustment.
