What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Super Nice Saw Cut Barlow from Case. 🤠
You weren't kidding... those jigged bone handles are spectacular. 🤠
Beautiful Case/Bose... nice and slender with gorgeous bone handles. 🤠
I still can’t decide if it should be a work knife or if it’s too nice for that.
I'm in the same boat with my Norfolk... so far it's been an occasional carry and haven't used it hard at all.
Good to see the Boker again. It’s a nice one.
Thank you, Bart. :)
Great picture, Jack. 🤠
Your Hartshead is really taking on a lot of character.

Congrats on your new vintage lambsfoot!:thumbsup::cool:

Good Morning Porch Friends
Decided to Tote the Boker Boys Knife today, it makes a good companion to my Usual Lamb.
Very capable blade combo with that pair, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary. I was on the fence on the 68 when I picked it up but it has been a knife I’m very glad to have. Not much to add on the Barlow, other than my gratefulness to have gotten a smokin’ deal on it from a member here.
That's been my experience, too, Jeremy; The Porch is a good place to shop! 🤓

Sure.
Yeah, this didn't seem like enough this year.

Even considering the other side:

A.W. Wadsworth.
The efficiency of a single knife to celebrate TWO holidays certainly has some appeal, though!:cool::thumbsup:

I don’t remember the age off hand but it’s been in the family for many decades now. My dad had it rebuilt a year or 2 ago.

So far I’m really digging the knife so far. Super lightweight, really impressed with the quality of it. I’ll be ordering another ‘Brother’ soon.
Thanks for both the tractor and the knife info.:cool::cool:

Mrs. Fleschwund wanted to take me for some range time, but I apologized profusely.
I think I dodged a bullet.🤔

Jeff, just let me know when you’re out of town so I can come by and help myself to that Craftsman😁😁. Don’t worry, I’ll post plenty of pictures for you to see!!

About once every year or so I actually walk out the door without a knife. Fortunately I keep a Victorinox Recruit in my work backpack.
Manny watches my knives when I’m out.View attachment 1711628But let’s talk about this leaving the house without a knife thing...
I’ll bet some deer sausage would win Manny over!!!! I keep a SAK in both of my vehicles and a couple others in my work vehicles, so I’m covered. I just don’t like forgetting to grab one before I go out the door. I’m going to find something else to blame it on, other than my memory. I just can’t think of anything right now🥴
Jeff & Jim, you should be on the television; you're amusing me amazingly! 😁 🤓

You should play some funky music while you're shoveling.

I bought it for myself as a Boxing Day present. I'm really impressed that such a little thing can throw so much light.

Tiny olight, bullet space pen, Pony Jack, are all powerful little tools.

I try to shovel before cars and pedestrians make tracks (that can be challenging to scoop up) in the snow, which means I'm often shoveling between 5am and 6am. I'm not sure the neighbors would appreciate my cranking some funky shoveling music into the heretofore Silent Night.;)
Yeah, I'm very happy with my simple little olight, its brightness, and its battery life.
Sounds like you have a winning triple play there.:thumbsup::cool: I sometimes think I should get a space pen (or some inexpensive write-upside-down substitute), but I've really always been a pencil kind of guy.

That’s exactly right, when my daughter said it was too icy for her, I knew I had no business trying it. With old age comes wisdom! 🤣👍
And brittle bones! 😲 o_O 🤓

Totin’ two old survivors from across the Atlantic today.

I have always appreciated the beautiful slender swayback on many vintage Sheffield Lambsfoot knives. They have an elegance lacking in the modern versions. I like the way the brass fluted bolster looks alongside the Cocobolo scales and Sheffield steel blade. The blade was rusted but has cleaned up nicely. Even the pits somehow look right. The steel became razor sharp with very little effort using simple ceramic sticks.

The French knife was a very kind and much appreciated gift from my friend Yann @Corto_Malt . Maybe he can chime in and explain the pattern. I believe it was lovingly refurbished by craftsmen in the same manner the English Lambsfoot was. I can tell you one thing, that knife is a champion box cutter! The scales are ox horn.

The action on both of these knives is excellent. The blades are tight and well centered.
I see Sheffield, I see France.
You've got some fine knives in your pants!:thumbsup:;)

Schrade 863 in my pocket for an up and back trip to Chapel Hill today. OH

Cool knife, Bruce!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I don't think I was aware of that Schrade model. Quite similar to the Camillus #72 carpenter whittler, right? Do you know which came first?

Three good 'uns Gary 👍
Always thought Case did a great job on that Barlow.
Those are some nice knives Gary, you have a really nice collection of canoes, those RR half hawks are stout workers and that smooth tobacco bone looks great, but that Case barlow is a show stopper! 😎👍
Thanks for the kind words about my brown trio, Jack & Tim & Todd. :)

Peanutesque Knife of the Week is this Case mini copperhead:

Stag/Horn Knife of the Week is a full size Colt copperhead. I really like the 2 full size blades with skinner in front of clip:

Lambsfoot of the Week is also stag, my Ashley's Choice SFO for Jack Black. I named all of my lambsfoot knives, calling this one Cracker Jack:

Two hard workers for a day off. Got this Craftsman off the ‘Bay for just a few bucks. It was covered with rust but unused. Cleaned up wonderfully. Putting it in the heavy weekend rotation.

I have that same Craftsman. Really fine one you’ve found.
Paul ~ TheChunk91 TheChunk91 and Steve, SteveC SteveC informed me that it was made for Sears by Ulster.
