What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Lovely knife and I'm happy to see the turtle return. 🤠
Thanks John. Yeah I like the turtle too. 62 degrees for a high today brought him out of hibernation, but 27 degrees for a high on Sunday may push him back. 🤣
Thanks Todd. So far, so good for the birthday fun for him. That new Boker looks great.
Thanks Jeremy, I need to seek help…I just can’t stop picking these up. šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

I'm not actually totin' this knife today, but I used it for a "photographic editing" experiment I tried after lunch today. I've always wanted to be able to superimpose some of my knife pics with not-very-interesting backgrounds onto other photos that would provide a more stimulating background. But I didn't like the looks of just cropping a rectangular chunk containing my knife out of an original photo and pasting it on top of the desired background.

One idea I thought would work OK was to just set my knife on my laptop screen while displaying the background pic I wanted, and taking a photo of a real knife on an existing image. But, so far, getting the lighting to look right for that approach has been beyond my limited photography skills.

So I've been trying to figure out how I can "extract" the knife alone from a pic and then paste that on top of the desired target photo. Here's my latest (and greatest, so far) attempt. I want to see how it looks posted to Blade Forums. (Thanks for the sweet mini trapper, Greg.)

I have that same Craftsman. Really fine one you’ve found.
Paul ~ TheChunk91 TheChunk91 and Steve, @SteveC informed me that it was made for Sears by Ulster.
That’s great to know. I was curious about which company did this one. The clip is a bit different from my other Craftsman 4ā€ stockman that is a Schrade.

Really hard to find decent Craftsman knives. Most were used till they were toothpicks. I watch eBay daily for the gems to come along…but they are needles in haystacks.

I love seeing TheChunk91 TheChunk91 s Craftsman bone stockman collection. At some point, I’m going to run across one and be able to snag it. Paul- you’ll have to let me know if you ever have a need to let go of one!

I love the few Craftsman knives I have. Makes me remember ogling them in Sears when I was a kid.

I haven't had much use for the upside-down-writing capabilities, but have come to appreciate the portability of the little Bullet Pen. This pandemic hasn't done my germaphobia any favors, and I like to use my own pen at the bank, etc.

I've got Old Friend and Black Friday knives riding along today. Have a happy and safe New Year, everyone!

I always enjoy seeing those two Rachel :)
Hey, mini Cornish pasties!! 🤣 ;)

Clever idea Gary :)

Have a very Happy New Year everyone! :) 2022 sounds kind of sci-fi doesn't it? ;)

This one is a popular choice today, with good reason. We will be celebrating my oldest's milestone birthday today (16) in addition to ringing in the new year.

With apologies to Hyesouljah Hyesouljah this one didn't go in the drink while being photographed 🤣.

A very Happy Birthday to your oldest sir! And Happy New Year to you and yours!

Today I’m totin’ around my ā€œSā€ and Merle to help ring in the New Year, what better knives than my KOTY! I can assure everyone that no coffee dunkin’ was involved in the making of this photograph šŸ˜†

Wonderful pairing, my friend. 🤠
Thank you, John. The 66 has a very nice JohnDF slip. Thanks again!

The last couple of days, Iā€˜ve had something rare - unoccupied time. So last night I bet on a whole lot of sports wrote a carry schedule for the next three months (as opposed to just picking something every morning). I look forward to how it goes.

I’ve been lucky/blessed enough during 2021 to have acquired some very nice traditional pocket knives, but this is my favorite for the year. Appreciate all of you who participated in the process - the end product turned out stellar

Happy New Year to the Porch!

Happy birthday to your eldest. Great times. :)

😲 Oh yeah, that’s a great one Gus, should’ve picked that one up myself, but the sow belly was a nice consolation. šŸ˜‰šŸ‘

Excellent choice John. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘

Knife, slip, and bead all look great together Coleman. šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

What a ā€œfunā€ post Jon! (See what I did there? 🤣)

Nice shot Jeremy. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘ Hope you have a great birthday celebration for your oldest. šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

A Christmas knife that I’m finally getting around to posting. Boker Barlow black Micarta and N690 steel. View attachment 1712332Hope you all have safe and happy New Year’s Eve celebrations. šŸŽ‰šŸ¾

Such nice knife with modern scale materials. I like it. Also, after seeing your turtle bead I had to hunt one down. So thank you for that. You may see the piranha bead pop up too.
I love your taste in fob decorations. :)

I’m really loving the BF Spring Street Barlow now that I can use it. Beautiful examples from all!

I always enjoy seeing those two Rachel :)
Thanks, Jack! Neither of my grandfathers carried a knife like the Boker, but it still has a solid, comforting "Grandpa Knife" feel to it. And the Bagpipe Big-un might be making the rest of my Lambsfoots jealous, but I can't seem to bring myself to switch it out for another.

The older I get, the more it feels like I'm living in a science fiction story.

Mom has decided to postpone her visit, due to the elevated transmission rate of the Omicron variant, so we'll just have to Zoom more, until she can fly down next Spring. (what would that sentence have sounded like to someone in the '50s, when my Boker was new?)

Yes, it’s a totally different feeling once you use it!! Enjoy making memories with a fantastic knife!!

Thanks Coleman, it’s a lot of fun looking around for them and they definitely add to the whole knife experience for me. Funny you mentioned the piranha, I have that little guy with me right now. šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘78EDBA38-5EDB-4F01-AF2A-09ACE430EAB5.jpeg
