Totin’ two old survivors from across the Atlantic today.

I have always appreciated the beautiful slender swayback on many vintage Sheffield Lambsfoot knives. They have an elegance lacking in the modern versions. I like the way the brass fluted bolster looks alongside the Cocobolo scales and Sheffield steel blade. The blade was rusted but has cleaned up nicely. Even the pits somehow look right. The steel became razor sharp with very little effort using simple ceramic sticks.

The French knife was a very kind and much appreciated gift from my friend Yann Corto_Malt Corto_Malt . Maybe he can chime in and explain the pattern. I believe it was lovingly refurbished by craftsmen in the same manner the English Lambsfoot was. I can tell you one thing, that knife is a champion box cutter! The scales are ox horn.

The action on both of these knives is excellent. The blades are tight and well centered.

I love this lambfoot , I can't get over not buying a lambfoot of waynorth waynorth when I had the chance.

Your knive is a "LANGRES", it's a classic production from about 30 years ago, from a cutlery company in Thiers which produced various regional knives under the brand names PARAPLUIE A L'EPREUVE and ROSSIGNOL for the LAGUIOLE. The brand has been resold several times but has not been used for more than 20 years as far as I know.
There are more luxurious versions. And current productions offering various finishes.

Have a good end of year Greg 🥂🍾

Sounds like you have a winning triple play there.:thumbsup::cool: I sometimes think I should get a space pen (or some inexpensive write-upside-down substitute), but I've really always been a pencil kind of guy.
I haven't had much use for the upside-down-writing capabilities, but have come to appreciate the portability of the little Bullet Pen. This pandemic hasn't done my germaphobia any favors, and I like to use my own pen at the bank, etc.

I've got Old Friend and Black Friday knives riding along today. Have a happy and safe New Year, everyone!

😲 Oh yeah, that’s a great one Gus, should’ve picked that one up myself, but the sow belly was a nice consolation. 😉👍

I’ll try to contain myself while on duty this New Year’s Eve with my top 3 favorite knife pickups this year.
What a “fun” post Jon! (See what I did there? 🤣)
This one is a popular choice today, with good reason. We will be celebrating my oldest's milestone birthday today (16) in addition to ringing in the new year.

With apologies to Hyesouljah Hyesouljah this one didn't go in the drink while being photographed 🤣.

Cool knife, Bruce!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I don't think I was aware of that Schrade model. Quite similar to the Camillus #72 carpenter whittler, right? Do you know which came first?
Thanks GT, I've had this one a while now (Carpenters Whittler and a fairly close match to the Camillus #72). I think it's originally an Ulster knife, made by Schrade (but I could be wrong - I've seen the same knife with the Ulster stamp but don't know when it was introduced). Those two brands have a very intertwined history. Dale Orvet, in his extensive Schrade research lists, published on AAPK, shows it as an open stock pattern, offered from 1953-1980 in that line. I don't know about the Camillus dates. OH

Been scanning 35mm slides today and gathering tax info for my CPA wife (never done taxes in my life gents!!) Got good plans for going fishing for a little while this afternoon, then out to an early dinner with friends, and finally watching the Georgia game tonight. Carrying this Case Whittler for now but I'll switch to the Eisenhower for dinner carry. OH
