It was a beautiful 70 degree day here, but we need some rain badly.

That is in Roseville, CA, and yes, the houses are continually moving closer. Ranching on the edge of a decent sized city makes things interesting. Lots of cars going through fences. A couple of weekends ago I got a call from animal control telling me that a woman called who was stopped next to our cattle because there was a calf laying alone (after the cow bedded it down and went to eat) and she was worried that it was cold and wondered if she could go in and put a sweater on it. It was around 60 degrees that day. Never a dull moment.

I rent everything I graze and I live in town. Some of what I rent is permanent conservation ground which is good because it will never be developed. A lot of what I rent is slated for development, so we are slowly losing ground as they build more houses.
