What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Came in yesterday. Ulster 183 with tang stamp of "Ulster" over "USA". Great little knife. Would love to find a shield for it to make it complete. Believe it is a 1960's stamp.
Well, here's what Markesharp Markesharp did for me, out of the kindness of his heart. Also polished it up a bit. Looks great. Thanks. Tap the attachment to see the new shield, pinned not glued.

I got a call from animal control telling me that a woman called who was stopped next to our cattle because there was a calf laying alone (after the cow bedded it down and went to eat) and she was worried that it was cold and wondered if she could go in and put a sweater on it.
Oh my goodness... that's so hilarious... people are funny creatures. 🤣

That is in Roseville, CA, and yes, the houses are continually moving closer. Ranching on the edge of a decent sized city makes things interesting. Lots of cars going through fences. A couple of weekends ago I got a call from animal control telling me that a woman called who was stopped next to our cattle because there was a calf laying alone (after the cow bedded it down and went to eat) and she was worried that it was cold and wondered if she could go in and put a sweater on it. It was around 60 degrees that day. Never a dull moment.

I rent everything I graze and I live in town. Some of what I rent is permanent conservation ground which is good because it will never be developed. A lot of what I rent is slated for development, so we are slowly losing ground as they build more houses.

Sacto Sacto - Bart. I understand perfectly what you're saying. Up here we have "Free Range". Cattlemen try their best to keep their animals in fenced areas but sometimes things go South. I hear frequently on our scanner about loose cows on the roadway etc.. Night time and black cows are especially dangerous. Not long ago a Subaru Forester traveling along US 395 at night doing about 70 MPH struck a black Angus bull. Killed the driver and front seat passenger - drove the engine part way into the passenger compartment. CHP said there was no evidence of braking. We're not threatened to any extent with housing developments but more and more farm and ranch land is idle what with the drought conditions.

Trying to talk myself out of buying that Boker Barlow BFF by carrying some of my fixed blades that don't see much daylight. I don't think it's going to work.
Have great weekend! We enjoyed a snow squall earler. Probably stay close to home today.

Yep. No matter how good your fences are, things happen and cattle get out. A few weeks ago I had a bull that got out in the road. The neighbor saw it and put it away and fixed the fence. Earlier this week I did the same thing for a different neighbor. It’s just what we do because cattle vs. car seldom works out for either.

I’m in the mountains this weekend and I brought my soda scout with me.
