What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I hope the weather is pleasant and you enjoy your hike. 🤠

Thanks a lot, Jack!!! :)

I'm always a big fan of a folder and fixed pairing, and those two beauties will serve you well! 😁

Hope the weather gives you a break so you can have a nice walk-a-bout in the lovely countryside, with those two beauties! ;)
Thanks a lot gents, very kind of you :)
Toting a couple black composite covered Robeson pocket knives from the 30s. :)
Delightful pairing JJ  :)
Time for a switch, going with an owl thems for late afternoon and evening. 😊View attachment 1752101
Thanks to Jon Jon0385 Jon0385 for helping me get the knife and carving the owl. 😊👍
Nice owls to go with your Owl Todd :D :)
Lambfoot and a paring knife? Interesting combination. 😷👍
My very first FB was a re-purposed paring knife, and this Ukrainian knife works almost as well
It was a long day today , what with getting up early and going 18 miles to make sure a Great Grand Daughter gets on the school bus and then picking her up from the school bus after school . On the way back we stopped by Geneva Lake to see how many people were on it .

There were in fact many more people than what is shown here .
Then later when I wanted to get a picture of todays carry , she wanted to hold it .

An older but better photo of the old Taylors Eye Witness Lambfoot

Great pics Harry :)
I got my Boker Barlow BFF in the mail today. First impressions are very positive. I like the blade profile. The walnut scales are really nice. I like the whole package. It'll make a nice companion for me and my Eureka Jack.

Good-looking pair Gary :) I like everything about that Boker FB, apart from the name. I was going to pick one up the other night, but balked at the hogwash on the UK dealer's site

"The Boker Barlow BFF designed by Lucas Burnley is manufactured as a fixed EDC in full tang construction. The renowned designer and full-time knifemaker from the USA bridges the gap between the historical roots of the tried-and-tested Barlow and the modern elements of his line design, which is referred to as Post Tactical, with this handy knife. The characteristic drop shape of the Barlow can be traced back to the English pocket knives of the 17th century, which certainly makes it one of the oldest models ever...."

Good Morning Porch Friends
Happy Saturday and I hope your weekends are off to a good start.
Excellent pairing John
That's a great fixed/folder pair you've got.

My weekend will entail helping some friends move. Rarely a fun job, but I've got a hard use pair picked out: ready for cutting cardboard and sandwiches. (bottle opener on the Vik Rambler on the keychain, just in case)

Hope it went OK Rachel, I like your choice of knives
Cool Lambsfoot, and you answered my question about the calibre of your weapon. How do you find it compared to the 7.62?
Having a Double Lambsfoot Sheffield Saturday, including a Bagpipe covered one from Jack Black Jack Black . :)
Happy Double Lambsfoot Day JJ
More of the same

Not sure how I managed to fall so far behind with this thread! :D Hope everyone is having a good weekend

I'm pretty sure that is the description on the Boker website also. Not the best name for the knife I'm afraid, but I'm glad I picked one up anyway. A Post Tactical Barlow is a pretty bizarre classification.

Really?! :D I think they have folding 'Barlows' that aren't actually Barlows too, you'd think a company with Boker's heritage would know better  It looks like a very useful knife though :)

I’ve been keeping my eyes open for one, but most of them are a bit more than I care to pay. For something that seems so versatile within the tool set, I often wonder why it’s not a current manufactured knife? Obviously Victorinox knows the answer to that question.
The Yeoman and Scientist both have a great tool set, both are out of production, and both go for surprisingly high prices. I found this Scientist for a reasonable price by keeping an eye out, so keep watching. Every once in a while one shows up. Vic should take a page from Case and bring these out of the vault.

Kind of a bitter sweet day. Went to a retirement party for a guy I’ve worked with for 28 years. Lots of retirements going on lately and reality is I’ll be there soon myself. Took the 15 with me tonight.

Beauty of a knife :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I retired while I was still young and good looking Augie.gif I still liked the job. The actual work. I was, however, so ready to be done with all the bureaucratic bs.

Hi Jack, it shoots much flatter in trajectory than 7.62 which gives it an advantage over distance. Recoil is lighter which helps with follow up shots. I’m a big fan. Have a great day!

I hope so, too!

👍

One side of my family came from a little shtetl (Jewish village) in Ukraine. I always picture it as something from Fiddler On The Roof, and once again am glad they immigrated, but sad for what they left behind.

Wonderful stag on that Camillus. DIY from the dog chew aisle?
Why, yes it is. Either Walmart or Menards. How did you know?;)
I love to carry GEC’s on weekdays. But on the weekends, it feels like I become the pupil of Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund Jeff, you have been a solid influence over me these past few years!

Hey now there, Jon. Don’t blame me!😙

Jack Black Jack Black ~ the Boker ad copy made me laugh, and sounds like some ebay knife descriptions. I never realized all knives can be called “Barlow”.

I think they need some "old blood" in their advertising department! :p ;)
LOL! :D I think you're right Gary :D

Thanks for the info Pete, I'm grateful

That was only a third of it Jeff! If anything the rest is even worse! :D All the copy on that UK dealer site sounds like it was written by teenagers though TBH!

This is how snow depth is measured in St. Louis! 🤣
That’s hilarious! I was thinking of y’all back home last night while I was in shorts at the Mardi Gras parade 🤣 great picture as always of your IRJ and really cool looking zippo
I was doing some soul searching while cleaning my knives, trying to rank them. Found out I just love all of them, especially this Barlow.
I have a hard time rank ordering too. It gets even harder as time goes by. Hopefully it wasn’t too stressful 😉

The covers on those lambfoots look awesome!

Thanks Jon, I figured you see that. We don’t go to the parade but we did go out to our favorite Mexican place in Collinsville and watched all the drunks stubble in afterwards. We left before it got too crazy! 🤣

A couple special knives in my pocket today
Beautiful grain on the 77 Jon. 😎👍

The local one here is quite tame compared to the one in Soulard. The parade route began at my VFW post.
