Thanks very much for the interest

As far as I'm concerned, I think very highly of this compact knife and it delivers something different, but I'm not familiar with the Benchmade so I can't directly compare them. The F&F is extremely good, can't fault it, being linerless it's a lightweight knife in the pocket 40g whereas the same sized GEC 83 would be over 50g depending on scales. However, it feels very sturdy and is up for a heavier type of cutting task than its weight would suggest. Half-stop, which surprised me and it has those grooves (gimping??) on the spine for thumb grip. Pinch open but strong pull which is good, not found mine hitting the lanyard tube at all- but I tend not to slam shut knives. The scale slabs are very nicely rounded so it feels good in the hand, an important must for any knife. The pins and lanyard tube were all smooth and flush adding to the pleasant feel.
With regard to cutting it surprised me, despite its slight Sabre aspect it will slice salami, cheese, tomatoes nice and fine if wanted, good for cutting sticks, tubing, plastics etc and the interesting blade shape a kind of hybrid leaf gives a broad blade with very sharp point and quite thick stock, the M390 steel is a big favourite as it's just so sharp- like on Lionsteel and Viper knives also from Italy.
Downsides: well obviously the styling is not going to be for everybody (what is??) but I really like the Moditional knives from Italy and their finish is very impressive. There is a very SLIGHT amount of blade play but you really have to get hold of the blade and bend it- it's not alone in this and other expensive knives of mine display a lot more. It could be the linerless construction or the thick stock or pivots but it is very slight.
Very good EDC , adaptable and really good summer carry if you're wearing lighter clothes.
