But remember when we saw our grandfathers or grandmothers using them? We thought they were awesome and could only hope that one day we would own such grand fishing equipment. Thanks, Todd. Just a cheap old rod and reel, but kinda neat looking. It may be time to clean them up a bit. I couldn’t get the reel off the rod for the picture, the release is bound up.
I used to laugh at my Father-in-Law's fishing setups. He'd have super cheap rods and reels. tons of lead weights tied on in a haphazard fashion, gobs bait sitting right next to all that weight, it looked a complete and absolute mess... until he would out-fish me.But remember when we saw our grandfathers or grandmothers using them? There is no accounting for taste I guess . Crappies are O.K. , but I much prefer Walleye and IMO Shore Lunch Walleye is the best . But maybe you have never had Walleye .Newlights. I wonder where they got that from?
When we lived in the Ozarks, a lot of people called them Paper Mouth Bass, which makes sense even if they’re not in the bass family.
Call them what you want, crappie is the best tasting fish I’ve ever had!
Those will get the job done, Jon.![]()
Your carry looked very familiarThese two for me today.
Thanks Todd. He’s a very close 2nd all time favorite for meWhat a great collection Jon, Yadi is an outstanding Cardinal.![]()
The crazy Midwest weatherWarm temps today and tomorrow and then a few inches of snow expected on Friday. Figured I’d get some green in before the white comes.

So funny -- this is exactly the same wine we had with dinner last night. A fine pairing with your Laguiole!

That stainless turned your ring gray…allergic reaction I guess!
That's a tough call Harry - like comparing a ribeye dinner to a strip streak - they both are real pleasers !There is no accounting for taste I guess . Crappies are O.K. , but I much prefer Walleye and IMO Shore Lunch Walleye is the best . But maybe you have never had Walleye .

I used to fish with a couple old guys that would pull their boat up on our shore and use cheese bait to catch catfish. Once they got their baits out they’d break out the beer and crackers and as a kid I was certain they were putting the catfish bait on their crackers even though they denied it!I used to laugh at my Father-in-Law's fishing setups.
