I’d love to see pics of it! I think the Custom Shop really did a fantastic job on the NOS, And the Closet Classic, too.I'll never stoop to 'relic-ing' my Fender, but I can see the temptation. Mine still looks as new as the day I bought it 20 years ago. It's not been played hard that whole time, but for a few years it was. These modern urethane finishes are near-bombproof, and they'll never show wear like the old lacquer finishes do so nicely. Dagnabbit, my guitar finish is too dang durable!
ETA: Stating the obvious here, but that's why I like carbon steel knives so much: a little use shows a lot of wear. I don't want fake wear but I'm okay with quick wear. It's a fine line, I guess.
I would love to see it, Gus. You could pose knives on it!Amir Fleschwund
I’m not sure I’ve mentioned that I still have a ‘99 Fender Strat in fiesta-red that came in the n.o.s. variant back then, built by J.Cruz. It’s possible that it was the first one in Canada…. you had to almost wait in line to touch it….
That’s when Fender really began producing their Custom Shop trio of N.O.S., Closet Classic and Relic line in higher numbers… I used to laugh at the other two and still do Jeff.
A couple of us put it up against many ‘59-‘65s and it really did sound as good and many times even better than the originals, it never got close to really feeling the same though.
In the next few days I’ll pull out a real vintage sweet-heart for a shot… hint: cherryred

Having recently met Jeff in person, I can vouch for the grey beard.

I was so focused on the trout, that I really didn't notice "Bennet Spring." I have good memories of fishing in Bennet Spring SP when I lived in Kansas City years ago. I can see why it would be a favorite destination for you and your family. Thanks guys. Our family made countless trips to Bennett Spring SP. When I saw this Zippo pop up I had to grab it.![]()

Beautiful Lambsfoot, Jack.
Snappy Queen.
I'd choose the Lambsfoot and the Green Stockman.
