Well, my wonderful wife and I marked 41 years today. I’m blessed beyond what I deserve.
Thought I’d share this pic of my portehouse steak at dinner. Don’t worry, under the charred exterior, it’s properly bloody rare. And the roasted vegetables were killer.52D9D0A2-AEAE-4E7F-9F99-53E1D860C284.jpeg
And the three of us have enough left over that I don’t need to cook tomorrow!

This Boker is finding its way into my pocket more and more.
Saw my first Rose Breasted Grosbeak of the season. They've just returned from their winter range that spans central Mexico, Central America and northern South America.

I’m about to put out the Oriole feeders (orange liquid Tide jugs with the sides cut out and a stick for a perch filled with grape jelly), but we’ve been worried about the RB Grosbeaks. Year after year, they’ve spent summers freeloading my sunflower seeds. But last year ~ none! Hoping they come back soon, because as you and Rob, Primble Primble said, they’re great having around.
Watch them as they fly away from you. The white wing tips are striking in flight.
Today is Confederate Memorial Day ... Still a State Holiday here in Alabama as well as Mississippi and South Carolina.
And still observed in Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and Tennessee. Formerly recognized in Georgia, Louisiana and Virginia.
U.S. Mail still ran today ... Confederate Memorial Day is not a Federal Holiday of course LOL.

Enjoying the day with a CASE COPPERHEAD and scents of Confederate Jasmine in bloom in the sanctuary behind the house.
Just came into bloom three days ago, so will become much more profuse in the coming days.

My Great Great Grandfather was a Captain in the Alabama 58th and wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga in September 1863.
Subsequently he was in poor health the remainder of his life and was skin and bones in this picture taken shortly before his passing in 1892.
The fella on the tri-cycle? ... I knew him. My Great Grandfather didn't pass on until 1968 (when I was 15). Spent lots of enjoyable time up on his farm in the country.
Ghosts that are with me.

EDIT: The fella on the tri-cycle in the picture above is pictured standing right in the picture below
Taken on the occasion of the yearly YMCA Father/Son Banquet in 1961
We had the most family generations present that night ... 4 generations
That's me seated left

I'd miss the Grosbeaks too. Hope they find their way back to you. They are really pretty in flight.
We see a few Baltimore Orioles, and we'll put a cut up orange on one of the platform feeders to get their attention.

Great pictures, great knives, and great color on that box turtle, Todd. Much more colorful than mine.
This one has been in the pocket since it arrived.

Can anyone help educate me to the age of the Zulu pattern, I can’t find much from digging.
