What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Well, my wonderful wife and I marked 41 years today. I’m blessed beyond what I deserve.
Thought I’d share this pic of my portehouse steak at dinner. Don’t worry, under the charred exterior, it’s properly bloody rare. And the roasted vegetables were killer.View attachment 1801866
And the three of us have enough left over that I don’t need to cook tomorrow!
Congratulations, Jeff! I'll catch up to you in 10 & 1/2 years ("if ever I live that long").

Update from carving club yesterday. We carved golf balls.
I got a birdie... Get it? A Birdie 🤣.

Can you carve a bogey?

I'm glad to hear you weren't stung too much Barrett :) I think mine was around £13, and I thought of that as a bit spendy! :D

I think that qualifies for the Thrifty Thursday thread, Jack! 😉😁

Good Morning Everybody... Back to work I go. :(

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho. 😉

Two Jacks. View attachment 1798138View attachment 1798139Hope you have a thrilling Thursday!

Those #54 Big Jacks are nice, solid knives.

I used to have to go sit outside for an hour while my son practiced his tuba. 🤣
My house sits a ways back from the road, probably 100 yards or so, and people used to walk by and ask, "Is that a tuba playing"? 🤣

🤣🤣

This pair today...

My typical RED Friday knife.
I took my daughter out to the old ball game tonight and met the first professional female manager. A really cool experience. @JohnDF we took a stab at playing the song, but we still need some practice. Hopefully this weekend we’ll have a good video to post.

That’s awesome, Jon! 🙂

Just keep on using and showing this knife, because it’s gotta be the best looking Buck knife I know of!

I don’t know exactly why I quoted you, Rob, maybe because I got out an Opinel No. 10 Carbone for a certain job...View attachment 1799822It’s a little big, not Buck 124 big, but bigger than a Schrade Walden 204S Linesman, or a Schrade 194 Serpentine Jack. It’s very light, though.View attachment 1799821
View attachment 1799820Have a pretty great weekend!

That’s next on my list of Opinel sizes to pick up. Not sure why I’ve been pacing myself picking up all the sizes in carbon steel — it’s not like they’re that expensive — but right now I’ve got No. 5 through No. 9.

I’m not familiar with the maker, but perhaps I should be. Good looking knife.

We went to a River Cats (SF Giants minors) game today. We sat on the grass in left field and had a ton of fun.

No knife at the game, but I had this Case barlow on me at the end of the day.

Sounds like a good day.

Haven't been to a River Cats game in a few years (due to general life craziness that was happening to us and around us, we even missed the two seasons before the pandemic). Hope to make it back there sometime soon. It can only happen this year if I can shake loose some time from two intense client projects, and at the same time don't have some pressing issue to solve with the new house, before the season ends (I'm not holding my breath for all that). I don't follow baseball closely, don't really like watching it on TV (although I do love the sound of a game on the radio!). But seeing a game live is fascinating - I get really into the action. Seeing a River Cats game is a great summertime activity. Glad you got to go. (Nice knife, too! )

For my money, when it comes to sports, there nothing better than a baseball game in person.

Love that photo! 😁

This #25 for Micarta Monday.

Great photo :)
Thank you kindly, Jack!!! :)

I'm a huge fan of the Swiss knives, especially the metal Vics; it makes a handy and attractive partner for your Hartshead Lambsfoot beauty, too! 😁

Threw these two in my pocket as I flew out the door in the morning. :)
Many thanks JJ, that's a colourful pairing my friend, plenty of blade options :)

Great pictures, great knives, and great color on that box turtle, Todd. Much more colorful than mine.
Thanks Bart. A little Ren wax every once in a while keeps him bright and shiny!
🤣🤣🤣
I had my Eureka in my pocket today

Today is Confederate Memorial Day ... Still a State Holiday here in Alabama as well as Mississippi and South Carolina.
And still observed in Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and Tennessee. Formerly recognized in Georgia, Louisiana and Virginia.
U.S. Mail still ran today ... Confederate Memorial Day is not a Federal Holiday of course LOL.

Enjoying the day with a CASE COPPERHEAD and scents of Confederate Jasmine in bloom in the sanctuary behind the house.
Just came into bloom three days ago, so will become much more profuse in the coming days.

My Great Great Grandfather was a Captain in the Alabama 58th and wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga in September 1863.
Subsequently he was in poor health the remainder of his life and was skin and bones in this picture taken shortly before his passing in 1892.
The fella on the tri-cycle? ... I knew him. My Great Grandfather didn't pass on until 1968 (when I was 15). Spent lots of enjoyable time up on his farm in the country.
Ghosts that are with me.

It's always important to have a link to and respect for ancestors whatever their era, culture and whatever their fate. It enables us to better understand the complexities of today and to understand ourselves a little better. Very interesting photos.

Thanks, Will.
