They gave me a drug, but I haven't looked it up yet to see what it was for. Late in the ER evening I started to talk a little haltingly but with effect. I'm still hearing myself make some strange mistakes, which worries me. I've worried to my nerve maestra about it.Yikes! That sounds like serious business, Jer; glad you're feeling much better now!
Did the aphasia just disappear on its own, or did they have some kind of drug that restored normal functioning?
The brain/mind is SO weird! You couldn't speak or think, yet some kind of "metacognition" must have been going on for you to remember what you were experiencing during this episode. (Or are your "memories" mainly based on what observers later reported to you about how you behaved? That's what happens to me with regard to "memories" of coming out of post-colonoscopy anesthetic.)
I've started walking with a stick, to give myself confidence.hope you're doing OK today mate![]()

Thanks for the update Jer, been worrying about you a lot. That must have been such a bizarre incident. Glad you were able to get some help. I don't think you have shown that walking stick, be nice to see itThey gave me a drug, but I haven't looked it up yet to see what it was for. Late in the ER evening I started to talk a little haltingly but with effect. I'm still hearing myself make some strange mistakes, which worries me. I've worried to my nerve maestra about it.
I haven't talked again yet to anybody who was at the church. I remember getting the words out at church before the ambulance came, but not what the words were. And I can still see them talking earnestly to me, but I can't remember anything they said. I don't think I understood much. [Which suggests my aphasia was receptive as well as productive. One more note to maestra.]
I wish I could remember something between calling Kirsten to tell her I wouldn't make it to the farm that morning, and being totally flummoxed by my own phone in the afternoon. There was something about 3:00-ish, but I don't know what.
I've started walking with a stick, to give myself confidence.
Did I ever show you guys my NY World's Fair Fair Seat walking stick?
Very kind of youI don't think they're very boring. That rehandled electrician knife is especially stimulating!
