Is it Woodnesday, or Whittlerday?

I am NOT looking for a new knife. In fact, I don’t even WANT another knife. I haven’t worn out the old ones yet. But come on and confess...which of you snatched up all those new #14 Lick Creek Barlows in sawcut bone? I look forward to seeing them!

I too, need no more knives. There are very few that are in my “want” column as well. But the addiction is real man! If I see a good deal, or one catches my fancy - a pattern I don’t have or covers that are appealing, I can’t help myself.

The goldenrod sawcut 14 looks amazing in different lighting - been playing with positions, lighting, and outdoor pics. I don’t think I posted this one yet.

I can add myself to the “NOT looking for another knife” group … however; I do find myself pining for specific knives that I once owned and wish I’d never let go of.
I’d like to tell you that if one of those came my way, I’d have the strength to resist … I’d really like to be able to say that …

When I think back to the knives I've sold or given away...
I can really only think of one model that I would really like to have back in my collection.
I really miss having a single blade #48 Trapper from GEC. But at today's prices, wanting one is about as far as I'm willing to go.

This just arrived today. AGR Hobo knife in green G10. In this age of hybrid/remote work I have been feeling like a hobo for two years now. At any given day I could be in NYC, at my home in Queens, upstate or anywhere in between. This is the perfect knife for this lifestyle.

I hate plastic utensils. Cutting a steak or a piece of chicken with a plastic knife is a real pain. NYC food cart fare is generally very good but the throw away utensils can barely get through lunch without falling apart. No more of that now. I added a pic of the hobo along side a Case Medium Stockman to give you an idea of its thickness. It is surprisingly not very thick considering it’s basically two knives in one. There is only a tiny and uniform gap where the two sides of this knife click together. There is a lock to keep things solid. When the fork is closed the lock engages. There is no play at all.

AGR calls this a Boxcar Jack btw. Case trademarked the name Hobo Knife. Since hobos back in the Depression rode in empty boxcars fairly often while looking for work, the name fits well.

I’ll start with this one today. 😊View attachment 1827808

How was the action on yours out of the box? I picked this knife up last week, and there was absolutely no walk n talk. I had to push it closed from the half-stop. I got some oil in there and worked it out - got better but I was pretty surprised with the (lack of) action out of the box.

Such a nice looking knife though. And that blade is the bee’s knee’s. I’m keeping it - just curious if mine was an anomaly or if you had the same impression.
