What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

“… Yes Virginia, there really was a time when dealers had to actually "sell" GEC and they were a "super value"

… and it wasn’t that long ago …
Heck I remember going round and round with Derek about the value in posting pictures of both sides of his knives! He dug his heels in for a while, and then hired himself a ‘glamour photographer’ … ah, the good old days …

That's what has held me back from trying one for myself. I'm not sure I'll like such a skinny handle.
If you need to do some heavy cutting, a skinny handle is not ideal IMHO. But I use my slimline mostly for food prep, so the skinny handle works out fine, and probably even gives me some added flexibility in terms of what grip I use.

Your Lambsfoot/GEC/Case trio today is terrific, John!:thumbsup::cool:
Have your knives been misbehaving lately? I've noticed that in many of your recent photos, you've got your knives standing in a corner! 😁

Nice Wharncliffes John.
Thank you, Todd. :)
Right back at you, my friend. 🤠

That's how I keep them in line. 🤣
I'm just lazy and the light is always good right there under the Maple tree.

That's a solid pair, Jeff. 🤠

I really wish GEC would go back to putting shields on their stag... I think it looks so good. 🤠
Thanks, John! I like solid better than flimsy.
Good Morning Porch Friends

My Lambsfoot for today

My GEC knife for today

My Case knife for today
What? No Schrade or Camillus for today?
Just for grins I'm carrying this Harness Jack for the first time (I think). Not sure it'll get used, but we'll see what the day brings.

Use it, but try not to throw it!
Headed to town in a bit. First stop is the Post Office and then it's gonna be time to put on the armor and go to the bank to negotiate a new percentage rate for a CD. I'll need a hearty lunch after that so it'll be off to the Wagon Wheel Cafe for Chicken Fried Steak with white gravy and mashed potatoes followed by stops at the Holiday Market, Four Corners Market, and Grocery Outlet. Gotta fill up the new refrigerator. I'll be totin "Patch". Plenty of knife for today's missions.

Notice how their interest rates for loans are always higher than for CDs?
Still "limiting" myself to a 7-week rotation of knives I've acquired since the start of 2020 (plus a few other favorites 🤓). Yesterday, I started Week 7 of that rotation; this will complete my third time through the 7-week schedule since late January.

Canoe of the Week is a 1975 Case:

Trapper of the Week is also a Case, a yellow slimline trapper (thanks, Tom):

You’ll enjoy the slimline, but you should move south. We have leaves on our trees!
Who knows, gasoline may get to $100 a gallon ... SOooooo
Fine tuning my chainless shaft-drive 7-speed bike

Now that’s cool. You’ve gone high tech!
Others have mentioned that the difficulty obtaining new GECs has led them to explore other brands. If GECs were mostly easily available, I might not have tried the knives from Maniago. The LionSteels and Foxes and Vipers (oh my!).

Budding persimmon flowers attract bees. There is low level buzzing outside my kitchen door right now. It should ramp up in the next few days. Kind of cool to hear an entire tree buzzing 🐝

The tree flowers every year, but never produces any fruit. My understanding is this means its probably a guy.
Funny how it flowers anyway.
By the way, when you pick p’simmons off a tree that identifies as a gal, make sure it’s ripe before biting into it!

Great knife and reel! Hope both get used today.

Classy pair!
We are flying out to Colorado tomorrow~ my wife and daughter and I, plus her parents from here, and I also bought tickets for my three granddaughters to fly from Georgia. So I have a lot to get done today, primarily deciding which knives to pack in our checked bag! Now your cattle reminds that my old Craftsman (Camillus) cattle would be a good one to take. The only concern is some sticky fingered baggage handler or other mishap. The last time we flew to Colorado, my bag took a two or three day side trip to Houston.
There is always the idea that I should only pack knives I could replace...

Looks like my son is coming out to say Hi 5 weeks early.
Tell Sam’s brother Hi for me, ok?
New to posting outside of the sales forum, but I’ll give it a go.

I’ve been carrying this modified farmer jack 😉
I like the wood!
Letting my old 1978, "O" tang stamp, KLEIN TOOLS COPING knife air out a bit this evening
Far as I know, Klein never made a pocket knife. Camillus may have made this one for Klein. Dunno

I have some Klein and Sons, including that little coping knife. i put elk antler on it.
Working knives for working people.
Thanks John and Todd! Everything is going well.
