GT, I've been resisting your canoe propaganda for a long time, but fine! You won me over with this Case.Canoe of the Week is a 1975 Case:
It's great to see Derrick come up in the feed today. I watched a ton of his clips when I was getting my sea legs in the hobby. I never got the chance to met him, but he was so personable on-screen that he seemed like a close friend. Cheers to him.Derrick mentions the Camel Bone at the end of his video from 2015
I'm from Michigan, Jeremy, and I've been to Traverse City, but I didn't know they had wolves there! Nor did I realize that a kid would MUCH prefer a Wolf box to an Elephant box; you must be quite a "salesman"!Is it weird to quote your own post? Maybe I’m the first But I had to follow up. Tonight I looked around and found another box (why do I have so many boxes??) to trade with my son. It was a wolf box, from Traverse City if there are any Michiganders here, and he ran to his room to trade up so fast that he nearly tripped!
Congrats on the new addition to your family, Jon!Thanks John and Todd! Everything is going well.

Good to see that you're carrying some ID in case, heaven forbid, the boat goes down!
Sounds like a good idea, John. That's how I keep them in line.
I'm just lazy and the light is always good right there under the Maple tree.
I always admire that jigged wood pair!Pair sporting cherry wood for wooden Wednesday.

You’ll enjoy the slimline, but you should move south. We have leaves on our trees!
Have a safe and enjoyable trip!We are flying out to Colorado tomorrow~ my wife and daughter and I, plus her parents from here, and I also bought tickets for my three granddaughters to fly from Georgia. So I have a lot to get done today, primarily deciding which knives to pack in our checked bag! Now your cattle reminds that my old Craftsman (Camillus) cattle would be a good one to take. The only concern is some sticky fingered baggage handler or other mishap. The last time we flew to Colorado, my bag took a two or three day side trip to Houston.
There is always the idea that I should only pack knives I could replace...
Good wood (walnut IIRC) on that lambsfoot!View attachment 1833408I call this one KNIVES WITH FLOWERS.
My wife says the Siberian Iris are her favorites. Grandma’s legacy.View attachment 1833409I will call this one KNIVES WITH MY FAVORITE HAT.
My wife doesn’t like this hat. As for the knives, “that’s nice, dear”.
Thank you John. I agree. They are Sunday-go-to-meeting trappers! That Schrade is sho-nuf eye candy! That is such an elegant looking Trapper.
We will, thanks, Gary!I'm from Michigan, Jeremy, and I've been to Traverse City, but I didn't know they had wolves there! Nor did I realize that a kid would MUCH prefer a Wolf box to an Elephant box; you must be quite a "salesman"!
Congrats on the new addition to your family, Jon!Looks like that young man couldn't bear to wait around until Independence Day to get his hands on a good knife!
Good to see that you're carrying some ID in case, heaven forbid, the boat goes down!
Hope you had an enjoyable time.
Sounds like a good idea, John.
I wish I knew enough about photography to recognize good light when I see it, so that I could choose a go-to spot for knife photos.
I always admire that jigged wood pair!
Once I have one photo of a knife that's actually in focus (sort of), I'll use it forever, Jeff! You'll rarely see knife pics from me that were taken the same day (or even same year) that I post them. Plus I kind of like that bare trees background; I wonder if I could erase the trapper and just insert the image of the knife of my choice somehow?
Have a safe and enjoyable trip!
Good wood (walnut IIRC) on that lambsfoot!

Good to see your boy enjoying his whittling, Jon, but neither the knife he has nor the GAW you mention ring a bell with me. I think someone else deserves the credit for giving Sam his knife!(Or my memory is even worse than I realized!)
