What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

On the spur-of-the-moment, Cindy and I went to town late yesterday evening for dinner at Antonio's our one and only Italian restaurant. Meatballs in Marinara Sauce on pasta for me and Chicken Alfredo for Cindy. We called each other on our new flip phones again just to make sure they were working correctly. I forgot to mention yesterday that since everything went digital, we don't get a cell phone signal at our house with these low voltage new fangled digital cell phones. Used to be I could get a cell signal anywhere especially with my bag phone when everything was analog. Anyway, I'm sticking with my sawcut bone Case Sowbelly (slightly modified since y'all last saw it) today. I really like the clip blade on Case's Sowbelly knives.

Have a peaceful Sunday, folks! Just going to hang out at home today. Been on the run all week

Ed, I'd be happy to text this pic to you, if I had your number! ;)
As Chief Chief mentioned, try speech to text. It doesn't care about old fingers, big fingers or no fingers! ;)

My all time favorite cellphone, the Motorola Razr, and one of it's latest iterations, a Samsung Flip 3. Comparing them? Like an abacus and a super computer. I spent my working life in electronics, so I'm a dyed in the wool, hopeless tech nut. I love all the advantages of the 21st century.
One of my favorite slip joints wanted to be in the picture, and in my pocket today.

Analog phones had their problems too. My local telco still supports the old rotary dial technology although my home phone is push button.
Well last month, the police showed up at my door twice(2) ... said 911 had been called from my address. I KNEW that didn't happen.
Put in a trouble call with the telco and because it involved the emergency system, they had a technician out to my house the very first thing the next day.
Technician found a loose wire made intermittent connections and in doing so, caused the telco system to "decode" the intermittent signals as rotary dialed numbers.

Technician was done with the problem in short order and I THOUGHT that was the end of it ...

Well on my subsequent most recent phone bill, there are charges for nine(9) 411 calls (directory assistance) ... @$2.99 each call !!!

Contacted the phone company and explained that I'd NEVER used 411 and that a technician had just been out to correct random 911 dial errors.

The phone company understood the situation and knocked the 411 charges off the bill.

This house of mine was built in 1945 and of course the neighborhood telco wiring is likely much older. There may be more issues in the future. Who knows.
Maybe I need to go strictly with a digital cell ... wait, there's problems with those too ?!?!?! Shoot

Well learn something new everyday ... Consumer Cellular offers a "Home Phone Base".
Remove the home phone from the wall jack and plug into the Home Phone Base and turns home phone into cellular. Keep same number and can even take it on trips and vacations.
Best part is that you can answer calls to your home even when away from home and the calls go through to your cell phone where ever you are. How cool is that.
Might be an option for those with good "bars" at home and want to keep a home phone. But I think you could do the same thing with call forwarding ...
Still looking at the "Home Phone Base" and trying to decide when and where it might be "necessary".

My experience was the opposite. We had analog bag phones at work back in the nineties. They were a lot better than nothing, but reception immediately got better when we went digital. My place in Tennessee is ringed on threes sides by hills. My Apple will get a signal in the yard if I carefully look for it (the spot moves o_O) and then don't move -at all. Or if I climb on the roof. Inside the house, nothing. Just need to boost the closest tower a teeny, tiny, little bit. Or recontour the landscapebulldozerevensmaller.pngeeksmaller.jpg

Just remember: technology is your friend 🤪

Anyhow...
I have no plans to leave the property today, but I've been toting this Case XX Changer around the yard looking for photo ops, so I guess it counts ;)

That'll be a glorious day. 🤠

That picture really shows off the texture in the Micarta on those two knives, well done.
Really hope Benjamin comes home today.
😊🤞
It’s funny. Last week I didn’t have any black micarta, and now I have 2. I think they look great.
Best thoughts and wishes for that!
Thanks guys. We’re at the hospital waiting for them to do whatever it is they do so we can leave.

Very exciting... and nerve wracking I bet.
We had to wait three months to bring our boy home from the NICU.
We spent Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years with the NICU nurses... and our boy of course.
I owe them the biggest debt of gratitude and they will always have my undying admiration for what they do for our families.
