What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Good Morning Porch Friends
I just received this #48 in a trade and it went right in my pocket.
Single blade trapper? Can’t believe you went for one of those! 🤣
Yeah. Our friends visited with their black lab puppy last week when it was over 90 degrees, and he quickly discovered our water fountain beside the back porch.

Then our lab showed him the creek running beside our property. Now, that's the first place he goes, when they let him out of the car.
Love it! 🤣👍
This morning started out a little foggy and extremely humid, but its turned very pleasant. This is all I've managed to accomplish so far ☺️

Sounds like a great start Mike. 😎👍
Headed east to a family gathering today. Taking the Boker Ironwood Gent along for possible picnic duties.
Have a great Saturday!

Beautiful Gary and a nice choice for a picnic. 😎👍
Song I remember is:
"Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me,
If I spring a leak, she mends me,
I don't have to speak, she defends me,
A drunkard's dream if I ever did have one!"
If memory serves me well....
Love The Band. 😊👍

Today I'm really going to fly my desk or fly my recliner chair with a couple of knives at hand. I told Cindy no surprise visits to relatives or from relatives today. This Bayou Trapper will be one of the knives at hand. Looking forward to Tiny Tot sardines, Ritz crackers, and Maruchan Ramen noodles for lunch.

Enjoy, Ed! Sounds like you got it figured out! Nice knives to CF & CE!

She did not tote it all day, but yesterday afternoon Mrs Fleschwund made good use of a pretty little stag Bertram Hen and Rooster Hawkbill to cut a vasefull of peonies. Sent by JonMcD JonMcD , I think it’s a classier tool for her rather than the old pair of scissors, right?View attachment 1841707View attachment 1841708

Beautiful! Those are wonderful! Glad that staggy pruner is gettin after it. Here’s that thrifty Boker I keep for the same purpose around my place.

Peonies are my wife’s favorites and I’m trying to get as many going in the garden as possible!

Goin down Cripple Creek
Going at a run
Going down Cripple Creek
Have some fun

Going down Cripple Creek
Going at a whirle
Going down Cripple Creek
See my girl

Love playing that one. If a bluegrass song can rock, Cripple Creek rocks.

I believe it’s two different songs …
Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund cited the older one, most likely familar to porch pickers and ‘shine jug virtuosos …

Prester John Prester John hit the one I remember, from the 70’s …

either way, ya gotta love good music …

😎

This dandy Lamb Foot cleaned, sharpened and ready to tote today
The knife was commissioned by Gary Wines, who served in the 21 Specialist Air Service Regiment at Duke of York’s Chelsea HQ Squadron, as an armourer.
Gary is a member of both the UK SAS Association along with the Australian SAS Association. In the ‘SAS Survival Handbook”, Gary’s Knives are endorsed and recommended by John ‘Lofty’ Wiseman.
The blade is manufactured out of Carbon 01 Tool Steel. Brass linings. Rosewood scales.

This is the flower...View attachment 1841750When the petals fall off, it leaves a little vase shaped pod that’s full of tiny black seeds. Y’all have a great Saturday!
What lovely and thoughtful flowers and totes. ❤️ Is Artemesia the same as wormwood? I used to have some of that growing next to the rosemary (lost in the Big Freeze of '21) I liked the smell, but was too nervous to make absinthe from it.

Yeesh. Stay cool. And nice looking knives there. The smaller one looks like it has some stories to tell :)
Thanks, I can't resist an old knife like that. In someone's pocket for decades probably, but still ready for use.

Today, I ran a few errands and stood outside in the sun just long enough to water the eggplants. That was enough for me. Was hoping to fettle with a new-to-me vintage Voos Cutlery I got off the auction site for a startlingly low bid, but the mail elves have once again misplaced a package. Have to try back on Monday.

Toting these two today. They could use some oil and sharpening. BBC America is playing a Planet Earth marathon of episodes about marine life, with lots of footage of icy cold water. Great for indoor summertime relaxation.

Very smart pup. I'd do that too, if I could fit.
There's a trend around here of making backyard "kiddie pools" or hillbilly hot-tubs out of galvanized stock tanks, big enough for an adult or two. Some folk even fit them with filters and build decking around for a fancy but affordable pool. I'm tempted to set one up.

You do tempt with those yummy smmiches, my friend! Since I like potatoes any which way, I’m sure I’ll like it!
Gotta watch those carbs, though. 😔
I wish that I could get you over for one Jeff :) Shy of that, be sure to check out my Yorkshire Day giveaway in a month's time :)
It sounds like a very cool day, great eats and new slicer!
