What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Been toting this Texas Jack lately. Love the size, but I wish that Case made the blades a little bit wider. Almost seems dainty to me.

I love the Texas Jack. Bought one for my daughter at a gun shop that was going out of business. She lost it and was afraid to tell me about it. She found it again--our Lab decided to bury it in the back yard. Got the rust off with steel wool, and has an interesting patina now. She totes it often.

That is quite the story!
Got five sons and one daughter, and she is the only one interested in traditional knives. Don't know where I went wrong with the boys. A couple of them like the modern stuff, and the youngest bought a large Italian stiletto when Texas allowed us to carry one legally a few years ago. (But he doesn't carry it.)

I don't think it's your fault. My son will come to me and with a heavy sigh, 'Will you please stop looking at your knives'.

SAK Churchill?
My first attemptwith brass bolsters. Not quite finished yet, but I will carry it for a few days to get a feeling for it
Brass Bolsters. Yessss. They look real nice to me!

Not sure why I like this thin watch pocket razor sharp spear point so much. The knife is pretty much a mystery
The steel is likely Chineseium since "China" is on the pile side tang. That's about all I know.
Well, I DO KNOW what the wood is ... wood
(one knife, two pictures combined)

I love that slanted Brass Bolster 👌🏼

Thank you for liking my old knives and for the fine compliment ! 😲😊

I doubt you will ever see a Primble book of anything ....................... I am too busy trying to find my next good ole knife and Elijah wouldn't stand for the lack of attention ! ;)🤣🍀
I would like to see a Waynorth book about old knives. I would have to get a copy of that. My collection is small compared to his.

Thank you Mr. Jack. You know, the ole Merlester is growing on me quite a bit. It has a unique look about it .............. and handsome red bone. Try to remember to get some closeups of the pile side script, for all to see. ;)😊

As for the Hartshead ...................... it is spoiled beyond anyone else's help .............. getting to taste all of that fine English cuisine ! Wouldn't be satisfied in anyone else's pocket ! ☺️

Quite a fine patina on that Micarta knife. Nice picture of both !:thumbsup:😊

I think there is room in this world for a Primble and a Waynorth coffee table book. Perhaps we could make it worth Elijah’s trouble with some tasty morsels.

Thanks for the patina praise - you certainly have a fine patina process yourself 👍🏼. All the best!

Everything checked out at the Doc's Office yesterday - no lesions, cysts, or growths, etc. and I was able to manage BBQ Riblets at Applebee"s - scrape the meat off with my top, front, teeth and chew/gum it with my rear, top, teeth and lower rear gum. Tedious but worth it. Anyway, it's off to the Post Office and the Wagon Wheel Restaurant this morning with a short stop at the Holiday Market. I'll be carrying this Micarta Bayou Trapper. It's developing a nice even patina and is a pretty useful knife. The only negative thing about it from my point of view, is that I'd rather have it's closed length at 3 3/4" - 3 7/8" and just a tad wider the length of the frame by 1/16" .

Glad to hear it went well, Ed.
Two 15s and a 68.

That’s quite a nice lineup. 👍

That’s good to hear, buddy!

We call that drive through Crook County, NW Indiana and up into Michigan ~ and back ~ The Armpit. Unbelievable traffic, never ending make work road destruction zones, and billi boards for hair plugs, lawyers and fireworks.

Nice work again! We’re gonna call you SAK Whisperer.
Maybe I should go “Prince” with that one, “The SAK Whisperer, formerly known as Barbababa, named by Amir” 👊🏿😎

Thanks Jack. I also agree, Jack, though the past few years have seemed to be far worse.
Yes, you're right buddy, hard times :(
Thank you, Jack. :)

I almost thought your HHB had been hanging out with Lucy, but then realized that was probably jam or some other sweet sauce. 🤣
LOL! :D Glace cherries 😁
Thanks, Jack. :) We're eating wonderful food, according to my wife (I'm not much of an epicurean myself ;))! In St. Paul, our daughter was recommending restaurants for our evening meals, but we're choosing quite randomly in St. Cloud. Here's a photo of the bowl of black bean chili I ordered in the Boulder Tap Room in St. Cloud Tuesday evening. Note that in this town west of the Mississippi, my "table knife" provided by the establishment is quite substantial!!🤓

That sounds like a wonderful time Gary :) Quite a hefty piece of cutlery there! :D

Thank you very much for the kind words my friend :) I think I will need to get a tripod out to do WValtakis WValtakis superb engraving any justice at all. Obviously, before Merle arrived, I had only seen photos of Chip's work, but it's far more intricate, and finer in scale, than I'd realised
Thanks a lot, Jack!!! :)

Merle is certainly bonding well to his new British buddies; outstanding photo of Merle's sightseeing adventures with your sweet HHB!😁:thumbsup:
Many thanks JJ :)
Beautiful bone Steve :)
Toting these two today. :)
Two outstanding choices there buddy :)
Great to see your Blood Lamb Pete  :)
These today :

Harry
What a fantastic pairing Harry :)

Hope everyone has had a good week :) My 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot is riding shotgun with the Merlester today :D

I don't think it's your fault. My son will come to me and with a heavy sigh, 'Will you please stop looking at your knives'.
Which proves genetics is all massive exaggeration 🤣

My father, all my uncles my brothers were not interested in knives at all, but I have some interest...;)

Fact is knives are an acquired taste, and traditional knives - the ultimate in taste

I got one in the making. We always have to stop by the knife display at ace. And he looks at the case catalog and picks the ones he wants for himself, and the ones he wants mommy and daddy to have.

Awesome in a few ways. The young man knowing what he wants when he sees it, an ACE hardware store still open and one with a Case display. We have two ACE stores in time but neither have the Case display.
Case pen knife today.

Nice knife. If I worked outside like you do, I would have a Buck 110 or a variation thereof, a 4-5" fixed blade and a 4" double action revolver on at all times.

I wear hearing aids. They're insanely expensive, but they changed my life and I'm glad I spent the money on them. I'm still a habitual 'huh?' and 'what?' guy, I forget everyone's name, and still have what my wife calls 'selective hearing'. All you have to do is tell them your hearing aids aren't working right..... Big rooms and crowds are still hard to hear in, but being able to hear the birds chirp and all of the tiny sounds I had forgotten about was/is pretty amazing.

Don't fall for the 'as seen on TV' junk unless you enjoy hearing the sound of plastic crinkling or paper rustling, magnified by 10,000. They just make EVERYTHING loud.
Thanks for the context.
I've thought of an ear trumpet also, but it would need to have a curve or an offset so nobody can whack the bell and drive the small end into your brain.

Awesome knife and great deer pic, Jim.
Many thanks, Jeremy! The Exotic India Bone may not be everyone’s cup of tea — but, ever since I picked up my 36, I’ve been a real fan. Glad you enjoyed the deer pic — a couple of days ago I saw a momma and her wobbly-legged fawn close to that same spot. Gotta love it! 🙂
