What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Hot dogs will be served in the mid afternoon. As per tradition, I will first watch the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition from Coney Island. Will Joey Chestnut beat his record of 74 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes?
I'd forgotten about your July 4th routine! :D ;) That is quite a record! :D

Edit- Aw well, it was still a lot more fun than watching the Queen's Speech! 🤣

Thanks a bunch, Jack!!! :)

Quite a cool duo of Americana Jack, with a bit of Sheffield inspired Lambsfoot blading!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Gotta love that classic tang stamp on your wonderful old slicer! 😁:thumbsup:
Thanks a lot JJ :) Hope you're having a great day :)

*-*-s ... how can anyone abuse their tastebuds and tummy like that? I could/can understand 74 lobster tails or even twice that in oysters/ clams/ peeled shrimp or crawdad/crayfish (freshwater lobster) tails, Squid/octapi/cuttlefish, or even Escargot ... but tube steaks?!? ew.
I am now in Lourdes,I paid my respects at 3 memorials on the way.
One of my maternal Great-Great Uncles gave his all in France in 1917.
I know he was laid to rest in France, but I don't know which cemetery.
Story I heard from his baby brother (my Great Grandfather) is he was Artillery, and "his" gun blew up. No one state side knew if it was a defective gun, or if the gun (or ammo) took a direct hit from German fire. As far as I know, the Army never said.

Happy Independence Day to all; I hope you've had a good one!:cool::thumbsup:
Although it happens to be the 4th of July, it's still a Monday, so I've rotated to a different set of knives for the coming week. I'll show a couple of them right now.
Canoe of the Week is a Rough Ryder with "artisan wood" covers:

Trapper of the Week is a RR smooth tobacco bone (with the darker hue that I prefer) full size locking trapper (thanks, Todd):

Classic 4th of July morsels. I had corn on the cob, red potatoes, and grilled out steak. and some butter ! ;)
I really really like your knife - I guess maybe I am the odd one out that thinks it would be so much better, or nearly perfect, if the pinched bolsters were not added.
On the gator edition, one could always explain that the gator chomped the bolsters. 😍 🤣

Speaking of wonderful old knives... 🤠
Thanks, John. I can’t use it too much because I want to preserve the blade etch.
Good Morning Porch Friends and Happy 4th of July.
Thought I'd carry my American Lambsfoot for the celebration.
Perfect knife for today, John. 👍
Not entirely sure, because he had a hard time opening it.😄
However, he was very impressed with the quality and the overall look of it. May have planted a seed. 😉👍
🤣 Big difference if you’re used to a flipper.
Love those “SAK in a skate park” photos Bart. 😎👍
Thanks, Todd. It’s a nice, thin one to have in the pocket for skating.
That new wharncliffe Case is nice. 👍

I’ll freely admit that if I had the Primble Primble pruner, I’d consider sharpening it and use it gently.
Nope - ain't gonna happen. Maybe my M.i.r. pruner, but, not the T. Turner pruner. Didn't you see the part about cutler to his majesty ? I doubt Royalty does any pruning anyway.:oops:;)🤣

The Sheffield pruner took a spill to the ground yesterday, when I had it outside for photos. Fortunately in the grass and fortunately I wasn't on Dwight's rock farm ! No damage - whew ! 😮‍💨

That old pruner is beyond description my friend , but you know that . It is what some of us look for and never find . I would have to carry it , but maybe never use it . Outstanding picture too my friend .

Harry

Thank you Harry. I kinda lucked into that old Sheffield pruner. A knife from a long time collector in my home state, who offered it to me from his personal collection. I also lucked into my best NYKC Barlow, the Southington Barlow, and the J. Fenton & Son Ferrier Horseman, all from the same collector. I need to see if he is still around. ;)☺️

Hope you had a fine trip Harry !
