Jeff thank you so much for sharing your memories/stories of your family! I have one of Grandpa's slipjoints myself and although it's just an old Imperial it is *my* most precious knife, I imagine you feel much the same? I've been carrying mine occasionally, but I do like your notion of buying a second for carry, helps that they're only about 20$ New old stock. Also, looks like Pa sharpened it on the bottom of a coffee cup to a zero-point edge, which I find likely given his disposition on spending $, so it would be nice to have a more useable edge.
Is there a porch introduction thread somewhere that I haven't found yet? Seems like many in here are on a first-name basis. I will learn all your names eventually, not my strong suit though. My name is Frederick, but my friends usually call me just "F.C.", so please "Frederick" or "FC", I do not enjoy "Fred" or "Freddy" much. ephsea--->FC
