Have a great week everyone

Starting mine with a Hartshead Barlow, and a Tod Cutler friction folder
Thanks, Jack.

Cool pair to start off your hot week!

Thanks, it's a Stockman - not sure they did a Serp Jack in the Black Box series? The blades are all low riding on this pattern and that's another plus. Here when it arrived.
Thanks for the additional info about, and photo of, your Black Box stockman, Will.

It's a beauty; I always prefer a stockman with a smooth, slender profile. I'm glad to have a sowbelly stockman from the Black Box series.
Pretty as a picture!

No defibrillator necessary if you have that jigged bone WCLF to open up and give your heart rate a jolt!

I found this Sword Brand EO jack a few years ago to match Grandpa’s knife, which I don’t want to carry.
My Grandpa’s family came from Scotland, and found work in the Eastern Tennesse coal mines. His father was killed in a huge mine disaster in 1906, leaving his Mom to raise three boys and a daughter. She took in washing and other odd jobs, raised a huge garden, and the boys hunted small game and foraged wild plants like watercress, dandelion, huckleberries, etc to survive. At some point, he left home and made his way. I’m not sure when, probably in the ‘20s or ‘30s, he saved up and bought a Camillus Sword Brand Jackknife, which he carried for the rest of his life. I remember sitting on his lap and him letting me handle it. That is the knife with which he showed me how to sharpen a blade.
When he passed, Grandma gave me his knives. His old jack had a lot of sharpening wear, and the secondary spring had broken, but it was HIS knife, and I think he carried it to the end.
This one makes a good user, and brings me good memories.
Used it yesterday in the garden. Cleaned off some plant residue, re-oiled it, and got it again today.

Fascinating to read some of your family background, Jeff; thanks!

Did your ancestors have an influence on your musical interests, too?
(By the way, you recently posted a pic including an old German "Lion Knife" with a notch in the blade edge. I meant to ask you, but forgot until now: did that knife ever belong to Harry
Old Engineer
? It looks familiar to me, but for some reason I hadn't associated it with you.)
Good Morning Porch Friends
Getting ready for a trip and leaving tomorrow.
Only taking my Usual Lamb, put a fresh edge on it and a drop of oil in the joint.

Lambsfoot looks good to go, John.

As your buddy Roy R. (and Dale) would sing, "Happy Trails to You" while you're tripping!
Mustang Monday?

I'd like to second that your Camillus' are very fun too look at, thanks for showing us Rob!
@Amir Fleschwund Jeff thank you so much for sharing your memories/stories of your family! I have one of Grandpa's slipjoints myself and although it's just an old Imperial it is *my* most precious knife, I imagine you feel much the same? I've been carrying mine occasionally, but I do like your notion of buying a second for carry, helps that they're only about 20$ New old stock. Also, looks like Pa sharpened it on the bottom of a coffee cup to a zero-point edge, which I find likely given his disposition on spending $, so it would be nice to have a more useable edge.
Is there a porch introduction thread somewhere that I haven't found yet? Seems like many in here are on a first-name basis. I will learn all your names eventually, not my strong suit though. My name is Frederick, but my friends usually call me just "F.C.", so please "Frederick" or "FC", I do not enjoy "Fred" or "Freddy" much. ephsea--->FC
I enjoyed reading about the knife you have from your grandfather, and about your username, FC!

I'm not aware of a "porch introduction thread", but there's an old "mug shot" thread in which members have posted photos of themselves:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/traditional-mug-shots.1009881/
There was also an old thread in which members explained the origins of their usernames, and although I thought it was very interesting, I can't remember what the thread was called, so I haven't been able to find it with the Search function.

Both knives and the pasta salad all look real healthy, Steve!

Started the week with these two.
Love the handle textures on that pair, JJ!

Dollar for dollar, I'm not sure I can beat the $20 this Swiss Army 1 cost me. It's a great little knife.
Totally agree with you on the Swiss Army 1/ Solo! I received one as a retirement gift, and carry it every day.

(I'd still like to find a Pioneer Settler some day, which adds a pen blade on the opposite end from the spearpoint.

)
Thanks, Gary. We made it back home last night. It was a fun trip and a wonderful way to celebrate.
Sounds great, Bart!

I'll bet the dogs and cattle were glad to see you back (well, at least the dogs).
...
Record-breaking temperatures here in Yorkshire, so I'm cooling my hands on these two, my Waynorth Lambsfoot, and a Random Tuesday Ankermesser
That pair is money, Jack!
