Beautiful day, remembering my son, Jason, who died on this day five years ago.

I finally beoke down, and agreed to help out at a friend’s farm. He’s a young, hardworking guy with an agriculture dregree, working full-time for a local very large vegetable and grain farm, while farming sisteen leased actes on his own. Kind of hard with a wife and young boy, Organic vegetables that he sells at farmer’s markets and small restaurants. His tomatoes are badly in need of trellising, so that’s my plan for today.

If I don’t post ever again, you’ll know the mosquitos bled me dry.

My heart goes out to you and yours !

Great choices Jon. 😎👍
Thanks Todd!
The fixed blade looks like an awesome blade form for deboning meat and skinning medium size and up game animals.
It is an amazing knife. I’ve grown to really like nessmuk style and inspired fixed blades. They are excellent for food prep, so I’m sure they would be good for things out in the field like you mentioned. The size of this one (OAL 7.5”) is perfect for pocket carry.
That looks like a useful pairing Jon  Love your coffee mug! :D
Thanks Jack! I work with a bunch of aviators so anything referencing boats scares them.

Took my truck for service to the same place I always do. It’s a shop run by a friend I’ve known since Jr. High. His dad started this shop in 1961, and my buddy has worked there all his life. He serviced my truck while I sat and talked to his dad, in green leather chairs with broken springs. They sit in the same corner as they did when he first opened the shop. In fact, everything is in the same place as it was when he opened the shop, it’s a frozen moment in time. He told me about his 8 years in the navy and the time he spent in Japan and Hawaii, or Ha-why-ya, as he says it. He’s earned the right to say it anyway he chooses. They are the same stories he tells me every time I take my truck for service, and I enjoy them more each time. He asks about my family and tells me that my wife is a keeper and that I’m lucky to have her. Then he tells me what a sweet lady my mom was and reminds me that he used to change her oil too. He says he and his wife used to go to the restaurant where my mom worked because she treated them right, and he’d leave a good tip. He tells me all these things in the time it takes my buddy to service my truck, perfect timing, a fine Swiss timepiece. I paid my bill and he sent me home with some vegetables from his garden, a handshake, and a thank you. There is nothing like a small town. 😊View attachment 1875963
