What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

There’s a LOT to love with a 124 Frontiersman (for me anyway). Especially after I rounded the edges of the scales so it’s more friendly to my particular hands. The steel is good and easy to sharpen and pretty stainless - I did stain a 119 with some kind of orange oil cleaner once. I was trying to get the poison ivy oils off the blade after chopping down some vines. A big plus is it reminds me of a knife a pirate would carry in his teeth while quietly swimming over to a sleeping merchant ship bent on mayhem and plunder…

Have a good weekend!
Jimmy

We're staying home for the greater part of the weekend but I'll be eating hardy with my supply of Tiny Tot Sardines, Maruchan Cup of Noodles, Hormel Chili with Beans, Hormel Tamales, Jif Creamy Peanut Butter, Geisha Smoked Oysters, and other goodies from our larder. However, I might be persuaded to go to the Brass Rail Saturday night for Lamb Steak with Spanish Rice. I can manage to chew/gum the lamb steak if I slice it thin. Anyway, I plan on carrying several knives over the next few days but my primary will be this Tribal Lock Lumberjack.

Yeah ... I know ... T'aint "Metal Monday" for a few days yet ...
I haven't carried these two for a while:
1975 Army Reserves issue Western "Demo Knife".
(offshore) Marbles MR139.
I'm 99.99986% sure I won't be needing the fish scaler built into the spine, as the chances of my hunting for swimming fresh wild fish in the foreseeable yet to happen is less than zero. ā˜¹ļø

They pair well with the Leatherman Charge+ TTI, and Toferner. 😁

(If anyone cares, this week's pen is a 1940's/1950's vintage leak-free Esterbrook "J" lever fill fountain pen. šŸ˜šŸ‘)

Nice. Have an enjoyable getaway, and don’t forget the sunblock.
Thanks Jeff, good advice, the sun is a lot more intense here for sure. 😊
I’m going to park my car and wade upstream about a mile to see if this one certain sweeping cutbank still holds a few big smallmouth bass. Fishin Friday.View attachment 1890915

Fish Knife Friday ~ the Vic Fisherman that Vic thoughtfully gave me for Christmas 35 or 40 years ago, and this no-name ā€œStainless Steel Japanā€ stamped fish knife.View attachment 1890916
Sounds like a good time, hope those bass were there. šŸ˜‰šŸ‘

Awesome pictures Todd! Good choice on the cardinals Red cadet
Thanks Jon. The red is my favorite. šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘
Good Morning Porch Friends
I'm going to carry something small and cheerful for my first day back to work.
Today is Professional Development... which is a district code word for "a complete waste of time" 🤣

You are sooooo right John! 🤣🤣🤣
Try and have a good day anyway. šŸ‘

Beautiful, really like the way that Bone has weathered and lightened. Note, should carry mine but already have a couple of Owls in service, but also have a lot of dark knives and fewer light coloured ones
Hi will. Im a fan of light colored bone too. It looks very good with a nice patina. Even though its a relatively new knife, it looks like an old knife. āœŒļø

Going with these two again today. Every time I carry the red cadet I’m reminded of the song ā€œLittle Red Cadetā€ by Prince.

Thanks Todd. I’d happily get up every morning if I were where you are right now. Two great knives for your trip.

If you edit your post quickly, nobody will notice ;)
Thank you kindly.
I have had it since 13 or so. We have a farm on hill land. There was a water spigot that was leaking and it coated a slope with ice. I attempted to traverse across the slope and my feet came out from under me and I landed sideways. I was in awful pain and eventually went to a chiropractor over a year, nearly two, before I felt better. I’ve dealt with it off and on ever since.

Used to be a guy at work that would take in turn and bend each of my legs up over my head like the chiropractor did when I would get to hurting at work. It helped some.

I found laying on the floor or table with a 1.5ā€ dowel under my lumbar helped a lot too. So I did that during break and at lunch.

That's terrible! šŸ˜³šŸ˜• Bad backs don't really get better do they? I first hurt mine when I was 16, (45 years ago), lifting a heavy tool-box out of the back of a van at work. That was a muscular injury, and has plagued my life, but I only started with sciatica a decade ago. I also have spondylosis in my middle back, and 2 misaligned neck vertebrae, so I really need to find another chiropractor! šŸ˜³šŸ™„šŸ‘
