I would love to have crappie around here. The best tasting fish there is.

I waded the river today and landed two beautiful smallmouth. Both broke the surface twice, then got the current and went for long runs. The old faithful Mepps #2 gold squirrel tail as usual.

I just realized this is the first time I’ve worn shorts all year! Luckily there was no one around back at the car when I stripped down and got back into my jeans.

Sounds like a great day! Been a few years since I’ve been on the river for smallies; I used to like to throw crankbaits and 3” grubs, but those inline spinners are hard to beat. You can catch anything on them.

Fried can‘t be beat! I filet them, roll them in corn meal and salt and pepper, and fry them in vegetable oil. I’ve grilled them and even made crappie cakes, but I always seem to go back to frying them.

I once had a badly strained lower back and a friend rubbed horse liniment on it and it went away for good. Like really fast went away. Can't say what the side effects were, but, I can blame anything on that magic cure now.
