What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

UPDATE: So, it's an HP laptop after all ... I just had the dang thing turned upside down D'OH !!!
And now I can't even open the laptop cover and tried the screwdriver blade thingy to help
But there are metal pins locking the cover like they use on hinges or something
So the knife is useless ... and I think I'm past the GEC return date. Shoot
Some days are better than others I guess ...

Have always wanted to try a hawkbill, so I picked this up at the 127 yard sale, for only six bucks. It has a "Sabre, Japan" tang stamp, it was very unfinished. Blocky handles, some pepper spots, and scratched up bolsters. So I shaped the handles down, which is a beautiful rosewood, and added rattail bolsters. After an oil bath and a few passes with wax, the pull is a solid seven. I can't wait to use this in the garden.

Great-looking pair :) :thumbsup:

Most of these are quotes of posts from Thursday that I "collected", but then Friday I got too busy with "vacation prep" to actually comment on them, and we spent all of Saturday driving, unpacking, buying groceries, etc. at our annual vacation rental where we spend a week or two each August (2 weeks this year).

Love that "navy utility knife" pattern! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

The buoy tender I was on out of Iowa for a few years worked the Mississippi. We worked the buoys all the way up a little past Minneapolis, but I don’t remember going as far north as St. Cloud.
Cool! I'll bet even if someone went up to St. Cloud, they couldn't go any farther because there's a dam and hydroelectric plant that spans the entire width of the river just south of downtown.

The usual shapleigh jr cattle and double swiss, joined by an imperial cattle.

Celestial quartet! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yeah, and I still have two more knives on me but they aren’t traditional. If you have too many knives what else are you supposed to do?
What else indeed?? :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: They used to say, "Smoke 'em if you got 'em", but I don't smoke anymore, so I apply that to knives now. "Carry (and use) 'em if you got 'em!" 😁

Good Morning Porch Friends
I'm carrying my Usual Lamb, a Frontier Stockman for Thrifty Thursday, and the Case/Bose for Three Blade Thursday.
The Frontier could be for Three Blade Thursday too, but I'll take any excuse to carry the Case Bose Stockman. 😁

Commendable Constellation! Your trio (each on a post) is as stellar as the trio in Orion's Belt! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

I think a man needs a hobby, right?
Those knives are binary stars, Jeff! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I always admire your enthusiasm for your gardening hobby! My gardening is VERY low key: I sit on the patio under the shade of the wisteria arbor, and contemplate whether the grapes will be ready to harvest before we leave for vacation. 🤓 (I was able to "process" several pounds of grapes to take with us on vacation.)

Meteoric pair of Cases! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Astronomical RR work knife, Alan; great covers and grand drop point blade! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Your 2 stag knives stand out like Castor and Pollux in the Gemini constellation! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Toting these two thrifty 30s slicers today. :)
Mjolnir, the Hammer of Thor, must have been used to crack the ice for that sensational pair, JJ! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Hillbilly is finally done.

Come and listen to my story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed...

Nice time of the day. Got a baking dish full of vegetables ( summer squash, onions, garlic, tomatoes, along with romano, asiago, parmesan, and mozarella, all sprayed with olive oil) baking in the oven, chicken breasts on the grill, and my ‘55 J45 singing back at the birds. The Voos is about to cut open a breast to see if it’s done.
Have a peaceful evening.View attachment 1890733
