What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The Maremmano pattern is definitely not originally from Sardinia, but rather from Maremma, hence the name. I'm not 100% sure what all of the Sardinian patterns are, but from what I understand (probably wrong ;)) there are three basic patterns: Pattada, Arburesa, Lametta.

Our friend with the Sardinian connection Âchillepattada Âchillepattada would know.
Hi Steve draggat draggat ,
It seems that the Maremmano comes from the city of Maremma near Florence in the north of Italy .
By it could be possible that the producers of Scarperia ( equivalent of Thiers in France) gave this name to the knife to sell it in Maremma.

That hartshead looks like it was loved as some point. Looks great 👍
Thank you my friend, it tends to get neglected in favour of my stag model, but I always enjoy carrying it :)
As you would expect of me I put Sudsy to use today.
Popped my first cap and found another use for the blade tip, opening nuts 🤣

I am now in Portugal.

Great pics! What am I doing in Yorkshire?! :D
With an Italian friend today. A Maremmano Pianella, the pattern is virtually unchanged from it's creation in the early 1800's. You can't see it in this pic, but the olive wood handle is actually one piece, still connected at the butt end of the handle.

Interesting knife
Great work John, looks top notch, as does your Charlie Lamb! :)
Carrying this Joker with bubinga today. Still impressed with the thin slicey blade and with how comfortable the handle is. 40 degrees on the Sharpmaker immediately established a clean edge all the way to the tip, so it came well-ground.

Great knives
Thanks a lot, Jack!!! :)

Your Hartshead looks very cool in Rosewood and that Queen stag bone is sweet, too; awesome pairing!😃👍👍

Toting these two KKs in black composite today. :)
Thank you kindly JJ, fabulous Black Friday pairing there, love the Keen Kutter shield

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend, particularly my pals in the USA - enjoy Labor Day weekend, and work on your spelling! :p🤣;)

I received a package from Reaper AL Reaper AL yesterday, and thought this Marrow Bone H10 would pair nicely with my twin stag folders :)

It seems that the cutlers of Scarperia know the same tricks that we've seen everywhere else! 🤣
The unofficial knife of Shiner Bock.

LOL - I laugh because I've used their bottle cap as a companion to some ram horn handles knife photos.

Carrying the Maremmano Pianella again today and wearing one of my favorite shirts, which is the background in the pic! PXL_20220829_235813606~2.jpg

Y’all have a great day!
Wow, the stag on your 68 is amazing Jon, some of the best I’ve seen from the last run. 😎👍

Outstanding capture of both a great knife and the tranquil setting!
👍🏼👍🏼
Is that Appaloosa bone, Oily Creek bone, or just beautifully aging smooth white bone?
In any event, it’s gorgeous!
Oil creek bone that had all the dark coloring wore away. Thank you btw.
