What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Happy fishing! :) I haven't been fishing in decades, but your lures still had me entranced! 🤣

Thank you Jack. I get that way too looking at what lure to use next. 🤣 Especially on a Quiet day like today. Just a pickerel this morning and nothing since. Still better than not fishing. Your due for another day on the water sounds like 😉

That LaRock is so cool!
Thanks Bart! It's a fantastic tool and has quickly become one of my favorite carries. Hope those cows behave for you this weekend.

Grabbed the LaRock again today and thought this made a nice little pairing. Just doing yardwork today so I don't anticipate needing anything bigger.

Will be brief ..
Purchased in late 70's...was 7 feet under water in tool box after a severe hurricane. After sitting in said tool box for years I discovered it and brought it back to life.View attachment 1917194
Remarkable resurrection of that Buck 301! The knife sounds like it's as amphibious as that frog in the boot planter!

Nice patina :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, Mike. The current patina on that canoe makes me think the guy in the canoe in the blade etch is trying to outrun a dark storm front bearing down on him (we had one come through Monday afternoon with a lot of tree damage).

Prestigious pair, John! I like the way you set up 2 knives in photos with identical backgrounds and then post them consecutively so it looks like you're doing magic, transmogrifying one knife into the other!

I do admire those sort of knives Gary, think it must be the peasant in me! :D
Thanks, Jack; we can aspire to be a pair of pleasant peasants (perhaps eating pheasants)!

Thanks a lot John, it was a day of ups and downs! 😁

That was a good wake-up song before my breakfast!

Today’s carry, love the ChurchillView attachment 1917486
I don't usually get very excited about GEC models for myself, mostly because their business model doesn't match my consumer model. But there have been a few GEC models that just make my heart beat a little faster every time someone posts one. Your ebony Churchill has that effect on me!

Splendid chestnut Peanut (and massive hook)! Welcome back, Shane!

Next up is my new knife day Otter Messer Anchor knife courtesy of @bigfish64 . Somehow he knew an anchor knife would be treasured by an old salt, thanks Todd. This one is pictured with my "Persian Excursion" certificate.

Nice certificate photos, Jeremy, and congrats on the Otter Ankermesser!
Kudos to Todd for his thoughtfulness!

5K Qs 5K Qs Thanks for your appreciation GT  I certainly DO like the CASE Slimline Trappers I have, very good in the hand knife and tidy with foods. Notwithstanding, they all have their build faults: all 3 have significant raised spring on open which interferes with handling. Blades whilst not rubbing the liner are very 'krinked' offset and gaps too. The 2 Queen Utility Knives have no gaps at all, have really grippy bone WCSB or ACSB, tremendous W&T and their blades being D2 seem to stay sharp a very long time indeed. The Queen knives are also better than the GEC 48 in my opinion, people should get one if they get the opportunity.

Regards, Will
Thanks for the additional info, Will. I only have one Case slimline trapper and it's a single blade model, so I don't have the krinking problem (spellcheck helpfully changed that to "drinking problem"), and I'm lucky to have a spring that behaves well. You wouldn't like mine for food, since it's carbon steel, but I don't "have the gene" that makes me taste/smell offensive traces n food cut with carbon steel.

The bone on this Case Whittler...

Beguiling bone!

Thanks Gary! I thought it was pretty sharp as well!
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Just this one today.

Stellar stockman, Jer! Is that Case's '47 pattern? My favorite Case stockman pattern is probably the 47.

Carried this Case 47 whittler the past two days. Also tossed in a RR canoe for the ride, inspired by Gary ( 5k Q's), canoe pics this week.

Glad I could inspire you, Greg!
I admire your '47 whittler; I don't recall seeing many of those on The Porch.

70’s Case today.

Yet another fine Case '47, this time only 2 blades, on opposite ends!
Cool coincidence that several Case 47 configurations showed up on the same day!

Straight again today. The 0-1 blade is going to go on Patina Service very soon and it will be a model student

Distinctive, distinguished knife, Will!

Carrying TWO Old Friends today, my much-neglected Hartshead Barlow in Rosewood, and a very pocketable Queen gifted to me by JohnDF JohnDF :) I'm never sure whether to call the latter knife a Trapper or a Utility Jack? 🤷‍♂️

Have a good Friday everyone :)

Really? :D There aren't too many fishing shops left here unfortunately, but I can never pass one without having a look look in the window. I am the same with tobacconists, and I quit smoking in 1978! 🤣 Yep, you're right, when I look back on all the happy times I had fishing, catching fish was perhaps the least of it :) I am, well overdue, I always thought I'd return to it when I retire. I have been hoping to go out with an old feller I know, but the poor bloke had his garage broken into last week, and they stole all his tackle :( I might see if he'll let me buy him some more, rods and reels seem to be cheaper than when I was a youngster, in relative terms at least
Thanks, Jack; we can aspire to be a pair of pleasant peasants (perhaps eating pheasants)!
Definitely Gary! :D
Dynamic duo, Jack!
Thanks buddy :)
