What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Very Mild Wednesday ... RUSSELL Saw-Cut Bone Granddaddy Barlow

Staying home today. A neighbor is having a fence installed - no climb horse fence. He's bringing in three mules. Don't ask. I have no idea why anyone would bring in three mules here. Anyway, I think I'll go down there and watch for awhile. Think I'll tote this Buck 112 with me. Don't know what the covers are (some kind of wood I think) but it'll do. Ate a piece of toast yesterday like a dumb-arse and this morning my gums are suffering for it so, only soft scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Anybody know what the wood covers on this knife are???? Some kind of ebony maybe???? Macasscar (sp?)

Nice 'un ED !!!
Don't know what year that 112 is, but the covers look maybe like Buck's "Dymondwood"
The company that used to supply Dymondwood to Buck, Rutland Plywood, burned down in about 2014, but stock on hand lasted a good while.
Essentially, Dymondwood is a lamination of very thin veneers, usually birch, impregnated with a resin.
The designation Rosewood, Cocobola, Heritage Walnut, Cherrywood etc generally refers to the color of stain used, not the species of wood. However ...
A few Buck products had/have a top laminate wood species such as some (not sure what years) of the Buck 110 & 112 which are Macassar Ebony Dymondwood.
Which as you guessed, may be what you have. Now days, I think Buck uses Crelicam Genuine Ebony on the 110 & 112.
The good folks over in the Buck Knives Forum may have the best ideas.

Thanks for the reply. The knife is 2008 manufactured. Here it is with the box it came in.

Here are a couple more of what I'm calling "my 10 best stockman knives" that I'll carry until next Monday.
Uncle Henry 897UH medium stockman that I think is the standard to which all medium stock knives should be compared (thanks, Dean). Look at those rounded bolsters! Look at those (almost) sunk joints! Look at those low-riding blades (especially the sheepsfoot, Case!)! Look at that long slender clip! (OK, I'd better add another photo.) Look at that Staglon! Look at those sensuous curves in the serpentine frame!

I think these quotes all came from Labor Day on Monday,

...
Wishing everyone in the US and Canada Happy Labor Day - And Happy Monday to everyone else! :D ;)

Very festive blackLF/redBF pairing, Jack!:thumbsup::cool:

Beautiful Böker/BF brace of Barlows, José!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

But oh, no! Almost $13 and there are gaps!
It may be a goofy knife but it’s the only tool I need to grill sausages. I use the fork to pierce them, flip them, and pull them off the grill. And my mustache looks good while I’m doing it.😁
Someone almost always gets me to have some good and goofy grins when I visit The Porch! 🤓🤓

Double fisting elk clad Bucks today.

Notable pair of Bucks!:cool::thumbsup: I hope those two elk don't start bugling and barking from your pocket!

Great photo of such special wood on your lambsfoot, Steve!:cool::thumbsup:

Y😲WZA! That RR stag whittler is outstanding, Greg!:cool::cool: Did you darken it a bit, or did it come that way?
Those pocket slips are the type I'd like to try making with some old baseball glove leather I've saved; I like the "lacing", and I'll bet that would be easier than "stitching" for a rookie leather worker like me.

Splendid photo of a real handsome knife, Mike!:thumbsup::cool:

It looks like I've finally lost my trusty old Henckels Stockman, so I've been carrying this Case Muskrat:

Sorry to hear that you've lost an old stockman; hope it shows up again. That muskrat looks like someone trusted enough to take it around the black a time or two!:thumbsup::cool:

Labor Day! DUH.

Kutmaster.
Very apt holiday choice! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a long, lean, lovely stockman!:cool::thumbsup: What's the closed length?
