What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This week I'm carrying another set of "top ten" knives I identified while working on my new, improved weekly knife rotation schedule. This week it's my 10 top stockman knives. I'll post a couple per day if I can keep up.
Here's a Case 6347 in TruSharp with walnut Rogers jigged bone and quad-lined bolsters. The 47 pattern is my favorite Case stockman, with round bolsters, 3 springs (no krinking), and full-size clip. Even though some call it a medium stockman, at 3 7/8" closed, it's large to me.

Rough Rider amber jigged bone sowbelly stockman, the first sowbelly stockman I ever handled. It was another case of a new pattern I intended to carry for a week, but it was a month before I could force myself to stop carrying it.

Wow wow GT! Top 10 for sure! I love everything about that 47!

I recently picked up a vintage 501 with steel bolsters and 440c steel to keep from carrying my Grandfathers 515, but after discovering my two year old son can open them both like he has been doing it for years I put them both back in the safe in case they fall out of my pocket !
Congrats on the 501. Fantastic knives. I do see what you mean (I carry mine in a snap sheath or I’d probably lose it).

As a child, I was drawn to the Opinels that my grandparents brought home from France. I also wouldn’t have been very old when I cut my face up trying to shave like dad.

Just realized I hadn’t posted yet today; still on the Outer Banks. Just came off the beach and snapped this picture of this #15 with a complimentary cup of coffee. Speaking of comps, this joint has a heck of a complimentary breakfast. This morning I had corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, hash brown potatoes, sausage, eggs, and a waffle. Never ate anymore until about five o’clock this evening when Mrs. Crappie and I went to a steak house where I ate a 24oz tomahawk ribeye, salad, baked potato, bread and hush puppies along with a couple glasses of iced tea. Better get to bed because breakfast is at 8:00 followed by mild beach activities and supper at five!🤪

Beautiful example of a Barlow , what is the steel ?

Thank you for the compliment and excellent question!!!

Here is the posted picture again since this is a new page in the thread ...
And an excerpt from the paper work that was packaged with the knife in 1975
The original covers on the knife were Delrin Bone and when I felt it time to have the handle covers replaced, I chose Mammoth ... or maybe it's Mastodon
The steel is mentioned as "non-corrosive" ... so I would guess the steel is 440 series (440A?)
... and a bonus picture of the fabric pouch that came with the knife in 1975. The years have not been kind to it.

Nicely formed rationale for liking your Case!
Is the round bolster prefernce based on looks, or is there a comfort factor?
I have both styles, and never gave it a thought.🤓

I picked up my first opinel in a department store in Paris , after leaving my pocket knife at home in fear of having it stolen from me at the airport , it served me well for a month while I was in Europe . I left it is a little hotel room in Madrid , I hope it landed in good hands !! Love the lambfoot , how does horn do in wet conditions ?
Thank you and I really haven't had the horn lambsfoot for very long, so any report of how it fares in wet conditions might be pre-mature. I hope your Opinel landed in good hands, as well.😊

I think the Opinel No. 8's give a lot of bang for the buck and one can modify them quite easily to suit their fancy.

I really like the color and jigging on this one. I don’t think I have missed a daily posting in this thread for a few years now. The only time I almost miss it is when I’m out of my routine and I’m at the beach like you. Enjoy you vacation. I wish I was next door.

Thank you Mr. Jack and I hope all goes well at the doc. 😊 I had a good time, but, the fish didn't cooperate. Need to plan a new fishing strategy for the autumn.
