Used some old plumb cuts I had, vinegar and mustard mixed lumpy for the patina and burned then oiled the handle! it has brass liners too and is pretty much made from scrap/recycled stuff :)

That is awesome. Looks like a great user, very nice work! What are the dimensions?

thank you very much! :)

just measured it and it's 10.5 inches long and 5.5 of that is the blade! blade is 3mm thick (0.11 inches).

the brass gives a nice weight in the handle and it's actually pretty nice considering it's just some bits thrown together to look like an old school trade knife. Need to make a sheath soon so i can take it out camping and stuff.

Appreciate the info Samon, thanks. Cant wait to see that sheath and some in use pics. Its in the right size range to be a great all around camp knife

Wow Gary, loving the little Ohta.....what model? and how long is the blade?

Thx
Peter
Hey Peter, Hiro calls it his "Small Camper". The blade is just shy of 2 1/4". Closed length is just shy of 2 3/4". Great watch pocket knife.

Got my dad's old Camillus cub scout knife, and my newish amber bone stockman. Love the pen blade on this, much prefer it over the standard spey.

The more I look at these scales, the more character I see. When I first got it, I thought it was just like ebony. But get it in good sunlight, and all kinds of texture appears, like the little blueish flecks and the nice orangey streaks, not to mention the grain. I'm lovin' it!

Jim, when I first saw these I wasn't sure if the whole thing worked, yours really does though. Great knife:)

That looks fantastic. Grain marks and open pores are funny-- if there's only one in an otherwise pristine piece, they can be distracting, but when they're characteristic of the wood like they are here, they're very appealing. At least, for me the open-grain structure fits well with the unfinished spine and tang area of the blade, and the overall aesthetic.

Beautiful knife.
