What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thank you, Bart. :)
I just wanted to carry a larger workhorse knife, even though my plans were more pony sized. 😁

Thank you, GT. :)

Only if he adopts the name Arthur. 😁

Very sweet looking little fixed blade... not sure I'd seen that one yet. 🤠

Beautiful horn your Lambsfoot, Jack. 🤠

Very nice picture, as most of your pictures are. 🤠
Thanks, yours show off your knives very well.
I like the way you bring out the micarta in your knives (which I can't do).
Have a nice day!

These posts do little to debunk the frequent claim that Austin is weird!! o_O 🤓
No argument from me!
Today I'm toting a weird old friend: Thuya wood Boker Whittler:

Lol... 🤣
It's my special recipe. 😁
Micarta scales that were left over material from the skate ramp surface.
You did a fantastic job. 🤠
Oh Wow!!! 😍
Can't beat that pair. 🤠

Carrying this Okapi Biltong today. Very charming knife, I like it even with its flaws. The wood is beautiful from some angles but very ugly from others. I don't know if I got unlucky, but some areas appear more resin than wood. Luckily most angles are more flattering. The tip of the blade also contacts the handle when closed, so I'll have to be careful about closing it. There is an exposed pin on the inside of the handle, I don't know how much clearance the blade has but no contact with the edge at this point. Tiny amount of forward-back play when open, the smallest amount of side to side play noticeable. Neither is enough to really matter or even notice most of the time.

Surprisingly decent walk and talk, blade came poorly ground at the edge but is sharp enough to try out a bit. Handle is very comfortable. 2.4" edge, 4" closed, the perfect size.

For $15 I'm happy, but I'd LOVE a $30 version with a bit more refinement.

Edit: Knife is not suitable to use. Somehow, by just opening and closing the knife, the tang managed to marr or gouge or scratch the spring. It's now unbelievably gritty and grindy, actively unpleasant to open or close. Knife self-destructed without even using it and isn't worth a dime, would strongly suggest never purchasing. I can't believe a company would put out such a fundamentally flawed knife with such unbelievably unsuitable materials, the spring must be made of pot metal. Lasted less than a day.

That’s too bad. It looks like a bad heat treatment, or no heat treatment at all on the spring. If the blade tang and the spring are not brought to the same hardness, you’ll get galling like that. I once bought a medium Camillus stockman, thinking I’d take it apart, and re-handle it. Well, the main had zero snap, in fact, it just flopped open and closed. When I broke it apart, I discovered that the portion of the blade tang that rode on the spring was entirely worn away, indicating that the tang had not been heat treated.
It happens.

It sure is Gary. Synthetic Ebony and jigged Chestnut are probably my favorite covers from Case. 😎👍

Saw this picture in another thread and didn’t even realize it was bacon! 🤪
I especially like the greasy goodness left on the cover. 😉👍

After carrying my "Always With Me" SOG Stingray practically everyday for thirty years, I've retired it and replaced it with this Buck 501 Squire carrying it in a sheath on my belt.

Accompanying it today as we go to town for the third day in a row (a record) to get some vegetables from the Farmers Market is this Sod Buster Jr..

We might stop in at the Brass Rail Restaurant for lunch but nothing except the Farmers Market is planned.

Too bad remove the spring and tighten the pivot, converting it to a friction folder isn't an option. ☹️

Is it a genuine Okapi or a fake? I heard they were having major problems competing with all the fakes.
