Really nice. Were these sears/craftsman made by case?
Thank You !!!
The little knife, a "Dogleg Jack" or "Peanut", looks like something Case might produce ... similar to same size as a Case Peanut ... except it wasn't produced by Case.
Of note, the main and pen blades are reversed, mark side to pile side, from the configuration that Case produces their Peanut in.
This Craftsman configuration allows for the pulls on both blades to be on the same side, as opposing sides like Case does.
The main blade also has a long pull which is seldom used by Case on the Peanut, but I do have a Case Select Peanut 1998 in blue bone with a main long pull.
Steve Pfeiffer, author of the book Collecting Case knives - Identification and Price Guide has been collecting, buying, and selling CASE and other brands of vintage and modern pocket knives since 1973.
He is who I purchased the Craftsman knife from (along with two others in differing patterns) and according to him, these pocket knives are from the 70's to 80's era and made for Sears on contract with Imperial/Schrade.
The blade etch on this little Craftsman Dogleg/Peanut features the date 1927, and according to my research and other folk's comments indicate this little knife was released in 1977 ...
The 50th anniversary of Sears Craftsman pocket knives.
Other vintage Craftsman knives were said to have been made by Camillus and in fact Camillus produced knives exclusively for Sears 1926/27 to 1940.
In the knife world there are some vintage Sears knives that are still debated as to whether produced by Camillus or others. But knife companies were also known to collaborate at times back then too.
As far as I know, Case never produced a knife or was involved with production of knives for Sears.
