Astonishing 'chopper' really tasty knife, love it 😻

Some old quotes (mostly from the past weekend) that caught the eyes of an old guy trying to maintain old habits.

Thanks buddy, I only tested positive on Sunday, it's just been like flu, so not at all pleasant, but no worse than that thankfully :thumbsup:

They have always been a great buy Gary, I've bought dozens of them in both black and yellow :) Thank you very much my friend :) :thumbsup:
I hope you get completely well soon, Jack, with none of the lingering symptoms that have afflicted so many victims!

Colonial & Imperial... two Classics.
When I was a kid growing up in the 1950s and 1960s in a little rural community, those were the only brands of jack knives I can remember seeing. So they're kind of my favorites in my geezerhood! ;)

...
Two special knives Gary :) :thumbsup:

I thought I better start building my strength up again ;) Have a great day everyone :thumbsup:
...
Thanks, Jack; they're certainly benchmarks in my knife life. :):thumbsup:
Carrying an HHB, a GEC moose, and a Buck 110 is certainly an enjoyable way to do your strength training! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Magnificent grain on that one! 😲:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Is that Osage Orange?

Interesting shot that shows, through the slot in the clip blade, how high the closed sheepsfoot rides on Case's 18 stockman.
Some folks seemed to really dislike those "nail slots", but I like 'em. :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

French Friday with one of my wonderful gifts from @Âchillepattada. She's a beauty! Leaving work around noon to head to West Baden Springs hotel in French Lick, Indiana with my wife for our sixth anniversary.
...
Belated happy anniversary, Ross! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Small world! My wife left town last Wednesday to meet our daughter for some kind of podcast convention in Columbus OH; she drove to French Lick yesterday to visit relatives from her mom's side of the family, and she'll go to Indianapolis for 2 or 3 days starting Wednesday to visit her siblings.

Johnny on the Pot.
Sorry for the potty humor. Couldn’t resist. Have a blessed weekend everyone.

Good one, Tim! 🤓:thumbsup:🤓
I have a toilet brush just like yours, but no scout knife like your Johnny.

That's a splendid knife! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
I'd probably call it an "improved muskrat" pattern; what does GEC call it?

What a sublime pair, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
I'm not an expert on GEC models, but some of them have certainly caught my attention repeatedly, and if someone asked me to name my favorite pair of black GECs, the ebony Churchill and Waynorth lambsfoot would sure be high on the list (along with an ebony #16 canoe and a #12 ebony 2-blade toothpick)!

Carrying this lifter mod 15 today 😎View attachment 1945513
The bone, jigging and color, on that knife is simply outstanding! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

...
Excellent! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
...
That 93OT is great, Gary. Perfect blade combo.
Thanks, Mike and Bart. :) It certainly is a great blade combo (although I might prefer blades at opposite ends over the 93OT jack configuration).

Military Knife author Ron Flook christened those knives NAAFI Knives, since they were sold in British NAAFI institutions (see article below). There were in fact 4 patterns produced in this style, by multiple Sheffield cutlers. One pattern of this type is still made, with a Sheepsfoot and Pen, but the Bexoid scales are no longer available unfortunately. Here's one with a Spear and Pen :thumbsup:

Thanks for the historical insights on NAAFI knives, Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Superb double stag for you! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Another fascinating engine number on your train calendar! Did you notice that the last 2 digits are 5 times the first 2 digits (65 = 5x13) AND that the first 3 digits are double the last 2 digits (130 = 2x65). Furthermore, those two "facts" are related ( 2x65 = 2x(5x13) = 10x13 = 130)! 🤓o_O🤓

Couple of substantial knives, Jeff! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Garden-related question for you: are these leeks, scallions, shallots, green onions, or what? I'm convinced they're not red onions, yellow onions or Vidalias. When we moved into our house almost 38 years ago, these grew on their own every spring along the chain link fence between our back yard and the alley that runs past our property. For the past couple of years, they also seem to grow in some raised beds we built back there. (I suspect my wife may have transplanted some of them from their original location.) This year is the first time that we're getting a "second cutting" (as we used to say in the hay baling business), with these nice new ones coming up the past couple of weeks.

Handsome stag saddle horn, John! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
That's a pattern I've never tried, but it looks good to me. How do you like yours?

Ian did not hit us nearly as bad as our southern brothers and sisters, stay safe down there. However we did lose power this morning so I did a reconnaissance hike to check the damage on the trail and to clear any of the smaller debris so the sawyers can get their carts in.

Pocket Boy and the Hammer brand camp were the tools of choice.

Glad you missed Ian's full force! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
What's the blade "beyond the spear" on your Hammer brand scout: awl or pen (or something totally unexpected by me)?

A nifty thrifty twosome Gary :) :thumbsup:
Thanks, Jack. :)
I wish that's what they called my wife and me. 🤓

Just spoke to Jeff. He and his wife were able to evacuate and are safe!
The initial reports of his mobile home in Florida are not good, so he has a long road ahead of him and will be in need of help.
Thanks for the info, Jon; sounds like a good news / bad news situation for Jeff, his wife, and their dogs.

I detect a theme, Steve! :thumbsup:;):thumbsup: I can fully support a Churchill/lambsfoot pairing (that would be an EDC pair I could easily live with).

First-rate Catt Barlow, Dwight! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I like the Barlow, GT. 🤠 :thumbsup:
Thanks, John. :) I don't know if there are any substantial/functional differences between a "standard" Imperial Barlow and a Diamond Edge version.

Thanks a lot gents :) :thumbsup:

Some very cool knives there Jon :cool: Charlie @waynorth sent me this one a few years ago, having picked it up for me at a knife show. The seller reckoned Mickey Mantle gave away so many knives, he bought them from Remington by the case :) :thumbsup:

I might have guessed a small knife like that came from Mickey Rooney or Mickey Mouse! :thumbsup:🤓:thumbsup:

Early is the only time to hit the grocery store. I love H.E.B. as much as the next Texan, but there's never enough lanes open.

Speaking of early mornings, it's beginning to feel like Fall. 🍂:cool:🍂

Grand pair of knives, Rachel! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Spotty internet around here today, but here’s what I’m starting my day with. Have a good one everybody. View attachment 1946813View attachment 1946814
Tough day for Tampa Bay, Todd, despite your fine efforts of carrying "team color" knives! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thank you, Gary! It is a small world indeed. We stayed at West Baden Springs- it is beautiful. If you haven't you should stay there when you're that way. Whenever I am on a trip I am tempted to lay a knife out and see if any Blade Forums members happen to walk by.

Yesterday, Cindy and her sister-in-law went up to Klamath Falls, Oregon and left me here in the dust in Alturas, California. Cindy being the great wife that she is, called around 12:30 PM to check in on me and see if I was ok. They were having Onion Soup and BB-Q Ribs at Applebee's. We chatted for a few minutes and after hanging up the phone, I went in and had Tiny Tots Sardines with a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich for lunch. After having come to terms with that disparity, I'm carrying this Schrade Fire & Ice Trapper today to boost my morale.
