What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

No, it's stainless. And I have to go back & edit the post to read FILSON vest instead of Wilson. (Darn spell check!)
Here's a pic of Sandy, proudly posing with his first pheasant retrieve. It's from around the time I last used that vest, and he's been dead for about 12 years.

Fantastic photo my friend, and I’m sure it brings fond memories of that beautiful dog.
I recently submitted to an “urgent security update” from Apple, and to do so, had to free uo a significant chunk of memory, which was mostly my photos. Goodbye knife photos! But I carefully hung on to my people and my dog photos!
It gets ‘toted‘ but to be honest not used an awful lot….most probably my least used knife as I just feel too guilty which is why I generally prefer user grade knives. 😬😀

I can relate. I have a couple of pristine Schrades and Schrade Waldens that I’m careful with. The 233 jack I used yesterday is one. There’s something about being trusted with custody of a knife from a company which no longer exists.

Love the wagon wheel!
One of the nice things about the Boker Gent is that it is slender -- after a bit, you forget that it's even in your pocket. 👍

If you did not pick that out in person, someone in the online store chose some really nice wood for you.
I just felt like keeping it very basic today.View attachment 1948086
You say basic, I say awesome.
last night in Spain, ferry back to England in the morning.
…bought another knife I don’t need and it’s carbon as well. 😁
So you bought another knife you didn’t need?
Admitting it to yourself and others is a good start. This forum is where you need to be. You’ll probably never be cured, but it’s nice being around others with the same affliction. For support and encouragement, you know.😎
I thoroughly enjoyed your photos from your long ride, Jim.
You’ll be glad to be home, I’ll bet.

Nice burl on your headknocker, buddy!
After all these years, I can still remember the LL Bean catalogues arriving, and poring through them to add to my fantasy list of gear for my own adventures yet to come. I can still remember my father tracing the outline of my feet on a piece of paper -- back in the day, you would send those into Bean's and they would use them to select the proper shoe size. Still remember receiving my first pair of Maine Guide Shoes that way. :)
Oh yeah! That Maine Guide Gear fueled my dreams.
Well, I was on the same wavelength as John today and also carried my Bladeforums TC barlow, but I can’t post a picture. I took a picture this morning out in the pasture and since then I misplaced my phone. Hopefully it turns up tomorrow, I think I know where it is. Makes me feel old.😁
I see it was right where you left it. Even though asking “where did you leave it?” makes perfect sense, my wife never appreciates me asking. 😉

Some old quotes (mostly from the past weekend) that caught the eyes of an old guy trying to maintain

Couple of substantial knives, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup:
Garden-related question for you: are these leeks, scallions, shallots, green onions, or what? I'm convinced they're not red onions, yellow onions or Vidalias. When we moved into our house almost 38 years ago, these grew on their own every spring along the chain link fence between our back yard and the alley that runs past our property. For the past couple of years, they also seem to grow in some raised beds we built back there. (I suspect my wife may have transplanted some of them from their original location.) This year is the first time that we're getting a "second cutting" (as we used to say in the hay baling business), with these nice new ones coming up the past couple of weeks.

Those are green onions, Gary. A variety called Guardsman, which grows a small bulb. They get pretty big, so we can hardly keep up with them. Supposed to have a light frost this weekend, but I expect it won’t hurt them at all.

Off to see the doc for my annual physical. Oops, excuse me. My Annual Medicare Wellness Check®️. 🙄

I like to have fun with the innane questionnaire the bureaucrats require…

“Do you feel safe at home?” ~ my wife said to say yes

“Do you have trouble paying for your medications and food?” ~ Well, have you seen the prices of new GECs lately?

“Have you had enough to eat today?” ~ Ask the nurse who checked my weight!”

“Do you need a place to sleep tonight?” ~ Thanks for the offer, but I don’t think so, Mrs Fleschwund says “nothing’s happened yet.”

To cut down on my scale reading, I left the Canadian Belt Knife at home, but since either of these weighs more, it didn’t help…8494E4BA-23B4-49F1-85DF-2371AA201130.jpeg55577DFE-5240-4180-A7F5-84FECA795555.jpeg
My best friend, Manny, is usually confined to the fenced back yard, so he loves to go out front with me when I take out the garbage, or go out to take my What Traditional Knife Are Ya Totin photos.
This morning, this clump of walnuts smacked onto the driveway right next to him, and gave him a good startling.07EE0B55-9F90-49AA-837E-906E821BB91A.jpeg
The nuts are so thick this year, that the tree rats have called for reinforcements.

The piano dismemberment continues. Yesterday, with my wife’s help, we got the 300 pound cast iron plate out into the front yard, and into my garden cart. Today, I need to wrestle the 300 pound soundboard and frame out to the burn pile. I’ve saved the nicer veneered panels to make shelves, and the few small pieces that are actually solid mahogany, but the inner workings are fascinating…9EE782C5-29EF-4613-8B99-F83740D2B0F0.jpeg

Y’all have a great Tuesday, ok?

I just got these back from the VERY talented glennbad glennbad . So I've been carrying both of them today, lol. I'm sure it won't come as a surprise to anyone, but he did an exceptional job! As one could expect from such an old material, the mammoth ivory in particular is very brittle/fragile.

This one is a Solingen made Boker barlow sporting mammoth ivory covers, integral bolsters, and damascus forged by Chad Nichols out of steel from a WW2 M4 Bradley tank! Also pictured is another BEAUTIFUL sheath by our very own sbh06 sbh06 . Thanks Jeremy!

Next is a 2017 BladeForums GEC TC Barlow with K&G stabilized redwood burl covers. :D I just wasn't feeling the original covers to be honest... And since 2017 was a little before I officially joined the forum, it felt a little less painful to swap the covers, lol.

I found this Schrade Walden at a garage sale here in Sydney, Australia….I don’t think there are too many down here.
After watching a few 357Magdad videos on YouTube of his knife restorations I gave it a go. Turned out quite well for zero power tools used although a Dremel is now on the Xmas list.

Thanks mate.
It's not a burl but banksia seed pod on bluegum shaft. Probably not that common out of Australia. Here's a link that I found.
good walking stick too.😉
