What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Nice keepers. Lake and shoreline look awesome. Any day of fishing is an awesome day. Why switch over?

Interesting surprise.
Thanks; it was a beautiful day. And you’re right about fishing. “Why switch over?” Good question with a simple answer. I can catch more trout in the dead of winter than I can crappie. Plus it’s a little change of pace and scenery, but come March I’m ready for crappie again.

if anyone cares, the pens are Jinhao 51A, one with genuine Ebony barrel, the other with a genuine Mahogany barrel.
Belt carry is Buck 110, SAK Hercules and Mini Champ, with a white cover Ulster Genuine "Official" BSA knife for "good" measure.
The "regular" carry Toferner neck knife is on me too.

I've had this OMEGA SAK by VICTORINOX for ~20yrs
The pocket watch tool is useless on my modern Omega wrist watches and I got it only because "Omega"
Finally I have an Omega pocket watch on the way to me. This one from 1944
78yrs and thousands of miles ... I should have it in a week or so
In the meantime, this afternoon I dusted off the SAK

You are carrying how many knives?

Gadzooks!! Your chocolate-covered popcorn stag is incredible!

Something reminded me of @Modoc ED while taking this.View attachment 1952287

Gee Whillikers, Jeff, I'll bet you chose that Wagon Wheel because ED is always so well-SPOKEn! 🤓

Took this photo after lunch, took a day off from a teacher’s workshop. After 32 years, if I don’t know what I’m doing yet, I never will! 🤣View attachment 1952308

Gee Whiz! That's how I felt in 2020, Todd, after 47 years of teaching, and then COVID hit and I found out I still had a LOT to learn! :eek:o_O🤓

Glory Be!! Both knife and sketch are works of art!

Tennessee is off to a 5-0 start and that's where I'm headed tomorrow morning. Y'all have a good week🛣️⛰️

Godfrey (Jack) Daniels!! Hope you had a great trip, Mike. That Tribal (mid)Lock is a Titanic knife!

Managed to scrape up eight keepers today. With a cold front, high pressure, blue bird day, it was pretty rough fishing, but it was still a beautiful Fall day with some color showing on the trees. Maybe another month of fishing and then we’ll have to switch over to trout in the mountain lakes until next March.

Goldang!! Those are a couple of fabulous photos, and that red Alox Old Cross SAK is a treasure!

I’m going to carry this knife the rest of October
Good Golly!! Condolences on the Cardinals' playoff results, but I'd say it was a memorable season nonetheless, Jon!

Great lines on that knife Ed  I do wish the morons in Boker's marketing department would ask their excellent cutlers to explain what a Barlow is

Have a great Sunday everyone :) I'm carrying my 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot, and my Todd Davison Sheepie ;) :)

Good Heavens, Jack, I know what you mean!! There are at least a couple of knives showing up here recently that are marketed as "Barlows" but don't fit the traditional definition.
Goodness Gracious!! The photos of your pair of knives are exploding with color!

I think the f&f is better on yours.

Sunday balls to the wall classiness before the Lord:

Gosh!! I suppose the F&F on my Case Calibers may be better than on yours, or alternatively, I may have shamefully low standards!
Gracious Me!! Your white/black Sunday Best pair is impressive!

Thank you Gary, I'm honoured :) I've mainly carried this one:

But I also have this Joker too :)

I like the top model, in carbon, best, and have bought quite a few to gift to friends

Thanks again my friend :)
Gosh Darn, you've done it, Jack!! That top Joker was indeed my inspiration (although we may have decided that mine turned out to be a larger model than yours.)

Of all the knives that I own, these two best represent Autumn colors to me. The leaves are nearing their peak colors here, which has occurred must sooner than last year. Might be the dry September we had. Have a fine Sunday everyone. 😊

Great Balls of Fire, Rob!! Those certainly are striking autumn colors in your knives, and I think the Case Muskrat is breathtaking!
...

Funny. The leaves have barely started here. Only the walnuts, which are always the first to turn and drop.
Have Mercy!! I don't know how Jeff's post ended up attributing Primble Primble 's quote to me, but I agree with Jeff about the oddity of Kentucky having leaves nearing peak fall colors already, while southwest Michigan is at least 2 or 3 weeks from peak!

This is the only one in my pocket but there is a big old Schrade and a Leatherman in my pack.View attachment 1953168
Gracious Sakes!! That's a superb photo of that stag lockback, Alan!

Great Caesar's Ghost!! I often like the looks of Uncle Henry's Staglon better than a lot of real stag covers!

Great Scott!! Grand rehab you've done on that knife!

Thanks, Gary!
… and I sincerely wish I was so young that I needed to look up Kodachrome!
… and what would that say about the efforts of one Mr. Paul Simon? He even sang about it!
😁
😁
"When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school, it's a wonder I can think at all!"
Heavens to Betsy, IMHO that Paul Simon wrote a zillion fine songs, and "Kodachrome" is certainly one of them!

Cool couple of knives there Gary, I always enjoy seeing the Richartz 'Whale' logo 🙂👍
...
Hallelujah!! Thanks for the kind words; Richartz has a whale of a tang stamp!

I'm toting my "new" centenarian. Pre-1914, American Shear & Knife Co.
The broken pen makes a nice little coping blade.

It's a Peachy Sunday here :)

Great knife, great story perhaps you can show us the arrow making as you go along?
Thanks, Johnny. Maybe I can get some pics of the various steps. I'll be sure to use some knives in the process.
Really like that, a beautiful small knife that suggests real in hand comfort when using it. Impressive  Now I want one!

Could you say what model it is please?

Thanks, Will
Thank you, Will. LT Wright 'Frontier First' model. Three finger grip, small knife but indeed very comfortable in hand while using
Looks like you and your beaver buddy had wonderful weather, Greg!:cool::thumbsup:

It was a nice day, Gary. Started out cool in the morning and warmed up nicely by noon.I planted an Arrowood Viburnum years ago. I should try arrowmaking. In my spare time.

I concur with your like for the Oregon Trapper!
I did the same a few years ago, Jeff. Planted two in hopes of getting some arrow shafts but they grew kinda wonky. I think since they were in the open and didn't have to reach up in competition for light there were few straight shoots.

I carried this G Knives USA hand made puukko style knife into the woods with me this morning. Osage and antler handle with some pewter accents/hardware. I took the pic at ground level then pointed the camera skyward for the 2nd pic. Beautiful time to be in the forest now.

The final two "international knives" I have to show this week.

Richartz & Okapi... Ha! Those two names are on my shelf too. Although my Richartz is of Swiss Army style, and my Okapi was made in Germany. Yours are very nice, and I really like the math tables. Maybe I'll break out the Richartz and actually carry it some day.

Looks great, Todd. Is that an old tractor rim? Another project on my list 😂👍
No, it’s basically a piece of culvert. They sell them at the farm supply store here in town.
Man, that’s pretty James. 😎👍

Good point Gary, we all learned a thing or two during COVID. 👍
Great photo Jon. 😎👍
