What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Don’t be afraid to string a few days together without a daily change (and show them here, of course).
I’ve been doing that lately, and I seem to appreciate what I have a little more.

I almost always go at least a couple days, and lately more like a week. Probably part of the reason I get behind in this thread! 😁

#35 and #74 today

I don’t think I knew (or maybe I just didn’t remember) that they made a two-blade #74. Looks like a nice knife!

French Opignel #8 with oak handle (gift from my daughter):
oPIGnel.mark.closed.jpg

I always enjoy seeing the Opignel, GT! 😁

Same knife as yesterday, but I thought I’d share something that surprised me as I’ve never seen a patina develop so quickly. The boss brought everyone sandwiches and potato salad for a crew meeting. I grabbed a ham and cheese along with a couple of those little Heinz mustard packets. There was nothing to spread the mustard, so I used my Johnny on the Spot. I sat the knife down while I ate my sandwich (10 minutes time), picked the knife up to wipe the blade with a moist towelette, and this is what I found…

I’ve forced a patina before, but never has it developed so quickly…evidently those little Heinz packets are the key to a rapid change lol, I’m just disappointed. I want some color and not this accidental, dark, blotchy, and boring look.

Mustard’ll do it. Looks fine to me, but if you don’t like it just keep using it on other stuff and it’ll come around.

Use it more. It will all even out.

☝️ What he said. 😁

That’s honest, user’s patina, and I don’t think it’s boring. I think one can usually tell a working patina from a fancy pants pretty one.😎

I’ve done a couple forced patinas with apple cider vinegar, and while I do like the even gray look, it’s not quite the same as the used it, cleaned it, oiled it, repeat “real deal.”

Interesting finish on the bolster and shield.

My bikes on 80,000 miles now and I did 50,000 of them, my last Kawasaki ZRX I did 90,000 from new on it.
That's with 2 separate operations that meant twice I had to learn to walk again let alone drive a car or ride a bike.

Anyway I cleaned my mike today and change the oil, this time without spilling oil everywhere 😁

In my pocket my 82 Victorinox for any small jobs on the bike, its in lovely condition.

That bit of greenery is my favourite souvenir of my road trip.

I love using my old Britool spanner’s they are as good as anyone makes.

I’ve really enjoyed following along with your travels. Hope you had a great time, and thanks again for sharing with us!🏍️

Nice sketch! Here’s one I did a while back.

Couple decent ones for Sunday.

I forget how big those #98s are! I think that was part of the reason I passed on them at the time… what a terrible decision on my part! 😳

I had my Sacto Sacto modified Bull Nose with me the last couple days.

The 98s are def a hunk of awesome! They ride nicely in the full size northwoods pocket slip. Love seeing that modified Bull Nose!

You are carrying how many knives?
Why do you ask, Officer?
🤣

Gee Whillikers, Jeff, I'll bet you chose that Wagon Wheel because ED is always so well-SPOKEn🤓

Have Mercy!! I don't know how Jeff's post ended up attributing Primble Primble 's quote to me, but I agree with Jeff about the oddity of Kentucky having leaves nearing peak fall colors already, while southwest Michigan is at least 2 or 3 weeks from peak!

Ed’s always at the hub of things, Gary. It’s how he rolls.

I think I know exactly how I did that with @Primble’s quote…
Using my “back space” button trying ti clean up your novella to leave only the parts addressed to me! 😬 If I hold it down too long, it goes into hyper drive, and erases entire lines faster’n Jed Clampett could say Boy Howdy.

I’m not very good with this high tech stuff…

Good Heavens, Jack, I know what you mean!! There are at least a couple of knives showing up here recently that are marketed as "Barlows" but don't fit the traditional definition.
Goodness Gracious!! The photos of your pair of knives are exploding with color!

Great Balls of Fire, Rob!! Those certainly are striking autumn colors in your knives, and I think the Case Muskrat is breathtaking!

Thank you GT.

A lot of leaf color now and the local news was expecting the peak to be next weekend, which is nearly a month earlier than last year. It has been really dry and cool around here lately.

Regarding the current forum dilemma, regarding what is being called a Barlow, I share your and Mr. Jack’s anxiety. They can call it a Barlow, but, that don’t make it a Barlow……………… and that includes Boker’s marketing !

No, it’s basically a piece of culvert. They sell them at the farm supply store here in town.

Man, that’s pretty James. 😎👍

Good point Gary, we all learned a thing or two during COVID. 👍

Great photo Jon. 😎👍

Those are some gorgeous covers! 😍
Thank you both! I just got lucky on the KSF drop. Love the pics out on the water Todd. Sure is a Beautiful place.

The final two "international knives" I have to show this week.

Thank you for your kind words, Gary; your metal mathematical marvel is mind bendingly cool! 😁

Great lines on that knife Ed  I do wish the morons in Boker's marketing department would ask their excellent cutlers to explain what a Barlow is

Many thanks JJ, the raffle ticket sticker came in a care package, with the knife, from Barrett btb01 btb01 :D :) I'm saving it for when I finally get round to purchasing a new refrigerator 😂

Happy Double Lambsfoot Day my friend :)

Have a great Sunday everyone :) I'm carrying my 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot, and my Todd Davison Sheepie ;) :)

Great pair, Jack. I always love seeing the Davison.

Good morning from the fire pit…again. It’s been an absolute gorgeous stretch of weather here. Starting with this one before I switch for the Bucs game later today. Have a great Sunday everyone. 😎👍View attachment 1953317
Great-looking knife Todd, in a beautiful location :)
Thank you Mr. Jack and 2 fine specimens you are totin' today.😊 One of them always reminds me of somebody.
Many thanks kind sir :) I sure hope our friend comes back one day, I think about him often :)
Ride to a biker cafe it was stuffed at one stage.

Bacon butty was outstanding as was the tea.

The weather was perfect, sunny and pleasantly English warm

I failed to photograph some of the really nice bikes.

Then onto a heritage site with an excellent S/H book store,I bought 3 books on the Falklands conflict which was in my time when I served.

While there I got a call from the police about my stolen bike,it kind of sums up England's fall in standards, heres what I wrote on faceidiot. 🤣🤣🤣

"The Police know who stole my bike and they know where they are.
They wont take the matter any further as they say its not in the public, interest nor can I recover the cost of the bike, they say that is what insurance is for.
They will not even ask where it is,yes they may not answer but you never know they may have thrown it in a hedge somewhere as it wont work without the console.
I dont think I need to tell you what I think about it."

Anyway I have decided this is a proper pocket knife, it just sits well in the pocket and has a lot of cutting power for the size.

Not in the public interest?!

That looks like a great bookshop
The new Miller Bros after church.

Thanks Gary, I would have expected better from Boker :(
Gosh Darn, you've done it, Jack!! That top Joker was indeed my inspiration (although we may have decided that mine turned out to be a larger model than yours.)
Yes, I think you're right my friend :) Mine is the smaller model

Thank you very kindly, Jack!!! :)

A visually stunning pair of pocket knifes you have put together today, Jack; the images of both are excellent, but your 2017 Guardian is sensational!😃👍👍

I enjoy the Lambsfoot pattern so much I decided to pocket these two for a second day. :)
Many thanks for the kind words JJ, I'm glad you're enjoying the Lambsfoot pattern :)

Have a good week everyone :)

I just thought with that weight his strides would be falling down 😁
