Good thing I have my nifebright, so I don’t lose it!
Camillus WWII Navy UtilityJack, which I’m fond of. It was my first traditional knife purchase on the auction site after deciding to stop carrying “modern” folders. I won the auction during a friend’s wedding. When an auction is ending, you gotta do what ya gotta do, right? I noticed the time, and holding my phone under the dinner table, placed the winning bid. Good thing I wasn’t out on the floor dancing with my wife and daughter.
All my years as a salesman, sometimes in sketchy hoods, I had carried a Cold Steel Scimitar, or Spyderco Police, Luckily, I no longer have to go into Chicago, except for picking someone up at one of the airports. If I did, body armor and a .45 would be better than a knife.
I never ran into trouble with those knives. In fact, one of my weekly stops was always full of State Troopers, and on more than one occasion, we compared knives like Porch Folks do when they get together. I even bought a S&W M19 service revolver from a Trooper who was selling it for his retired Chicago cop brother. One of the things I miss about my sales route.

The biggest nail in the coffin for carrying modern folders as working knives came later, when I was working for my friend at his tree farm. Finding and fixing broken field tiles was a regular job there. I would find a sinkhole indicating a break while I was bush hogging/mowing, then Ron would dig it up with his backhoe. Then I’d climb down in the mud, and fix the break. One day, up to my knees in water and mud, I had to cut a 4” plastic drain pipe under water, so out came my Buck “locking” folder. Sand and mud clogged up the mechanism, and the damned thing closed hard on the back of three fingers, cutting what felt like all the way down to the bone. That did it for me~ never have had a traditional knife do that. Some jobs call for a good fixed blade, but I have found that tradiitional slip joint knives are safer for my purposes.
Plus, they’re much better looking!😎

been messin’ around with this new to me Boker Barlow Prime … I really like this little guy!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here but that's no Barlow. You could call it a great display of ebony with a big button on the pivot end, or even call it late for dinner, but I don't see how Boker can call it a Barlow. It's a beauty buttttt ---

Ride to a biker cafe it was stuffed at one stage.

Bacon butty was outstanding as was the tea.

The weather was perfect, sunny and pleasantly English warm

I failed to photograph some of the really nice bikes.

Then onto a heritage site with an excellent S/H book store,I bought 3 books on the Falklands conflict which was in my time when I served.

While there I got a call from the police about my stolen bike,it kind of sums up England's fall in standards, heres what I wrote on faceidiot. 🤣🤣🤣

"The Police know who stole my bike and they know where they are.
They wont take the matter any further as they say its not in the public, interest nor can I recover the cost of the bike, they say that is what insurance is for.
They will not even ask where it is,yes they may not answer but you never know they may have thrown it in a hedge somewhere as it wont work without the console.
I dont think I need to tell you what I think about it."

Anyway I have decided this is a proper pocket knife, it just sits well in the pocket and has a lot of cutting power for the size.

Hard to believe that the perp who stole your bike isn't being arrested. :(If in that situation I think I would be beside myself in disgust.
On a side note, In 1977 at the age of 19 I bought a brand new KZ750 in that green color. had it for a couple of summers. If my memory serves me right I think I paid $ 1,500 for it off the showroom floor.

Knife content. Today I'm carrying this Western lockback and a Schatt & Morgan jack. Brown theme Monday. :)

Totin these to the PO this morning to send off a couple of knives to a Porch member back east. They didn’t last long yesterday on the exchange and I’m pleased they went to someone who contributes here. 🙏 Drat! I forgot that today is Columbus Day/ Indigenous Peoples Day and there’s no postal service today. 😡

FOR ED.

Also I love SPAM. Having some for lunch
Spam sandwich (nuked thick slice) ; spread lots of mayo on bread; eat......um,um good.
Having Spam noodle soup for dinner. Like chicken noodle soup, just with small chunks of spam. ...yummie.
Used Old Hickory kitchen knife to slice SPAM (just so a knife is mentioned in post) :)

That is a beauty. I think I wasn't here yet.
I passed, should have done a blade delete! :D ;)
Nice looking knives Jack. 😎👍
Thanks pal :)
Jack Black Jack Black , @5K Qs , @Primble … and to any others I may have spun up, incensed, or offended in any way … I throw myself on the mercy of the Porch … I meant no offense nor intent to stir up a dilemma by quoting the misguided marketing musings of the manufacturer … thus, and by your leave, I shall give it another go …
This here’s a cool little knife …

😎
Certainly not offending me Ed :D It's a darn nice knife :) As for those ad men at Boker, they ought to be kicked in the seat of the pants, repeatedly, until they stop spreading ignorance! 🤨
Micarta Monday, and a day off…be still my beating heart! 🤣👍View attachment 1954287
Enjoy it Todd :) Another great pic my friend :)
Couldn't decide on a Barlow or a LF so I'm carrying both and a Camillus Air Corp Utility as well :)

Good move Steve :D ;)
Looking good Pete :)

Moki ….I think it is called the Meek these days. I bought this over 30 years ago and despite some clumsy use and sharpening it is still every bit as good today as it was then. I am a definite fan of these knives.
I think the handle is something a bit exotic like Quince ….
