It’s hard to beat getting away and spending time with the kidsThanks Bart, it was a lot of fun.![]()
Thanks, Todd!Always enjoy seeing these photos.
What a beautiful knife Bart.![]()
That CJ barlow is super coolFirst of can I say a big thank you to whoever has turned me gold,I have no idea how you did it or who you are,but you cheered me up no end.
THANK YOU
All of these old uns I bought at the show yesterday.
Its lovely, mild and sunny this morning.
Sitting in the sun giving everything a wash and brush up is enjoyable and relaxing.
I use a mild brass brush for spark plugs,Folded fine emery paper between the liners and fold a small piece into a box shape for the inner face of the back spring.
Flush out with a garden hose then drying in the sun.
Next metal polish and oil.
The Camilus as the tip of the opener missing so hoping a little clean and sharpen on whats left will work.
My first ever Camilus,it looks like a great camp knife to me.
Cleaned of the burs on all the drivers, interesting to compare the TL 29 (superb condition) to the English version.
The CJ Barlow I was offered twice the price I paid on the spot,I was talking to a interesting collector who had a vast knowledge (he was like the Brummie Jack Black).
I said to him if I sold it to him it would be the same price,if he had said he had been looking for it for years I would have given it to him.
His brother told me he had unbelievable collection.
"Chas if you are looking in I hope you will join the forum".
These are all in good working order and ready to use,I am surprised which ones I am favouring straight away.
It was a brilliant show, it was to much to take in,my wallet was literally empty at the end of the day.
But I cant stop thinking about the ones I didnt buy, I needed a bigger wallet and a pickup truck

Great pair, Todd. I love seeing that Eureka.
Thank you and nice pic of your HHB. I was expecting a squirrel to jump out of that hole in the tree.![]()
That's great to hear, I know the feelingThanks so much, Jack! It was a great day on the trail, I just need a lot more like it.
Unfortunately, that is not uncommon with horn. Was the horn like that when you bought it? Horn usually starts to peel in that way for climatic reasons, it gets too dry, or it has been left somewhere hot, such as in direct sunlight. If you have a look in the Guardians thread index, linked to in post #1, you'll see some discussion on this subject, and what posters did to reverse it. With new horn, I've found just putting the knife somewhere cool and dark is sufficient for the horn to lie back down again, but with older horn, you might need to 'rejuvenate' it in some way. If you're not desperate to carry the knife, maybe put some elastic bands round the area, and put the knife in a sock drawer for a couple of months, and also read the posts on the subject. A vice might not do any harm, since horn is very elastic, but it's possible it might crack, and it may not solve the issue
Lol - I think I saw eyes in the back of that black hole.
If a squirrel had reached out and raked it in the hole, it might have been holler to the ground. I can imagine Mr. Jack out there with a chainsaw, trying to retrieve the Hartshead Barlow !![]()
Thank you very much, Jack!!!!![]()
More magnificent metal for your Monday, Jack; your friction beauty looks like an excellent companion to your super Hartshead Barlow!![]()
Many thanks JJ, I always enjoy seeing those two verdant beauties

My Random Tuesday pick today, and I don't think I could have got two more contrasting knives - Beauty & The Beast! My pre-ban double-bolstered Lamb, and a James Barber WW2-era British Army knife
![]()
![]()
Good luck, I think they'll be OK. I had a couple of Lambsfoot knives, which I left on my coffee table, and the sun curled the horn up. They looked terrible, but a couple of weeks later, they were back to their previous stateThanks for the advice I wasn't even sure what the scales are.
I like the last photo by the way,I reckon half the WW2 photos are of us brewing up a pot of tea,the Germans had no chance what with a tea in one hand and a bacon sarney in the other.![]()
Terrific Taramundi!
Impeccable ironwood!
Your Churchill is a champ, Paul!Pair of 35's today...

The Camargue Cross on the bolster of the top knife always fascinates me, JJ!
There's a saying, "Familiarity breeds contempt." But the more I see that friction folder with the olive wood (?) handle that you've posted quite frequently recently, the more I like it - beautiful, practical knife!![]()
Have a nice day![]()
Never tried them. I imagine they taste like chicken??You like salamanders? I like salamanders.
Couple of splendid knives, but that graph you've had in a couple of posts intrigues me!View attachment 1956842
Already posted today. But after seeing a couple of you guys post this one, I had to drop this German lady in my pocket also.
Totin' newly arrived Whittler's, which I picked up off the exchange last weekend. They are very similar to my Catt Whittler that I was toting yesterday. The Catt measures a little shorter at 3&3/8" closed, but, has a longer main blade than the GEC versions. Went to Granny's diner and had a good breakfast, then got jabbed again with the new Covid booster after that.

Congrats on your new whittlers with the spearpoint main blades!Ok Ed, I will take some pile sides later. There is a heart shape on the pile side of the Ironwood, as well as some critter's face .......................... and there is some scary lookin' Goblin's face on the mark side around the top pin.I think I might start calling Ironwood ........ Critter Face Wood.

Had to carry the 2015 BF knife in 440c, Bocote. Sadly it may have been the last project for Canal St Cutlery. It must have been a real emotional rollercoaster for Eric after the Eric's Jack in 2014 and then this. So happy he has attained the hard earned success he deserves.

Those are a couple of fine examples of a Forum Knife I admire!!Friday!
