I can remember being introduced to Lego, aged 3 or 4, by the Barlow family of Stannington, Sheffield. I had walked, with my extended family, along the River Loxley to the Robin Hood pub, to meet up with the Furness family, into which my auntie was to marry, and the Barlows, being longstanding family friends, had come too :)

A photo taken a few years before ;) :D

You certainly are immersed in Barlow, and Knife, history, Jack Black Jack Black !!
And with a good memory!! 😉

Those are a different LEGO theme which are called Technic. They're more focused on detailed mechanical models of cars, construction vehicles, aircraft, etc. LEGO still makes the traditional brick-based sets too.
Those do look like fun.

Very cool, Jack. You could start a Barlows & Legos thread. 😁

You know I was thinking of you then, saying to myself heed love that one and that one and that one 🤣

I didnt even get to see half the stuff he had,the military and fixed blades also looked choice.
LOL! :D I bet I would have too! 🤣 It sounds like a treat :) I used to sometimes go to militaria fairs, but there was never a lot of folders there. I wonder where he got them all from! :D

The Barlows had a lad about a year older than me, and suggested the Lego :D

I got in some backpack time yesterday going up Yonah Mountain with an Albers Cocobolo.
Great pic, I hope you enjoyed the hike

Been getting interested in some Boker offerings of late and well … these two just arrived!
New Knives Day!!
One in Castle Wood (historic oak sourced from Burg Castle in Germany - built in 1133), with acid etched 01 tool steel blade.
The other is Ironwood w/ Bohler N690 blade.

Really nice fit n finish on both, in a slim handy pattern - very similar in size to a single spring GEC 35.
Today, I carry Castle Wood!
😁😁😁
Many thanks to bigfish64 bigfish64 for all the help and insight on these …

I decided to take the

I*XL GEORGE WOSTENHOLM

Out on my bike today,1 day of weather like this in October is worth 10 in the summer. 😍

I like the brass liners, the slightly larger frame compared to the others and the way it opens and closes as its very smooth now.

Some advice please,as you can see the scales are coming away at the top if I leave it in a vise overnight will they close or will they crack?
Perhaps I need boiling water?
Any tips?

The secound set of photos I have compared it to the single blade tool I was issued in the Army back in 1979.
Th IXL electricians blade is just that bit better, its sharp on the centre edge to strip wires better and the rasp (?) bit is a lot more functional.

The last picture the kinds of roads I am riding in England, some contrast to Spain but I love it.

The nurse who gave me my annual physical last week would have been sorely disappointed if I’d had to strip🥴

CONGRATULATIONS!

I used the clip on the Big Jack enough yesterday that it needed a touch up on my diamond stone. I usually use the spear for food, and all it cut was a fistful of cilantro for supper.
The beets and carrots are just fine where they are, I just pull them as needed. But when we get a serious freeze, I’ll bring them all in. Gonna have a LOT of beets. You hearing me @afishhunter?View attachment 1960634View attachment 1960635
