What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Lovely knife, Will. Love that spear.
Appreciate that Jeff. I've been in multiple minds about this knife (no, not like Primble Primble going bonkers and seeing faces in burl whorls :D:cool: ) but can't make up my mind. It's all steel, really well finished indeed, I like the scales and the Spear is imposingly long which fills the whole frame. W&T gains your attention, colour is fine but...somehow the 14 feels a bit skimpy and toy like in the hand, even in 2 blade form. Shame as its cousin the 15 is all good. Makes a nice aesthetic object though😻 Generally, CASE do small knives better than GEC I feel.

The background of the picture I chose to show off the blade colour&form but it's amusing. From a Finnish magazine on vintage cars, it had a page of adverts from a British car mag of the 50's. One of the adverts is for some kind of car vacuum cleaner that's operated by connecting it to your car's exhaust :eek:☠️ the car magazine is amused by the reckless danger of the device...a very British looking butler type flunky appears to be using the contraption on a Daimler, probably not in confined spaces though......;)

Regards, Will

Going with the 86 2AB in the slip and a Butterbean in the watch pocket today.

Good-looking little canoe! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I like canoes, and I have a few mini canoes, but no Case mini canoes so far; the price for such a small knife doesn't seem right to me usually.

An early Cattaraugus Sleeveboard Whittler and my Opinel No. 8 Virobloc Brevette/Lame Acier/Au Carbone (now that's a mouthful) for Tuesday. 😊

You're without a doubt a Catt guy! :thumbsup::thumbsup: 🤓

Thank you GT .......................... at least they all got a thorough inspection for carbon critters. 😂
😁 Inspection couldn't hurt - better safe than sorry!

...
Thank you, Gary.
Better get the families together for a meal once in a while, my friend. Time goes by fast.
You're right, but it's easier said than done after some of the stuff that's been said and done. :(

Thank you Gary, nice to carry those old knives :thumbsup:

LOL! :D Thank you my friend, I've certainly told it before, since you've been a regular here :) My dad told me that story about a bloke at work, when I was very young, but it only ran to a few sentences. 90% of my own embellishments are true, and it's always different. I could easily double the length of the tale. It works much better verbally of course, particularly where drink is involved, and when I tell it aloud I alter the finale, allowing the listener to participate more! :D I don't tell it often, only every few years, but it's had some hilarious reactions! :D :thumbsup:

Having seen several accidents involving rings, I've never worn them. One was when I was about 10, and I didn't actually see it myself, but it involved a close neighbour. The poor woman was cleaning the windows, indoors, and jumped down from the step-ladder, catching her wedding ring on the sash-window, and leaving her finger behind! :eek: An ambulance was called, and the ambulance-men saw to our neighbour, who was in shock, and said they thought the finger could be re-attached at the hospital. One of them then turned to the woman's daughter, who was the same age as myself, and apparently quite distraught, and said, "Can you just climb up there, and get the finger?"! :eek:
...
That's quite a ring accident! :eek:o_O

Ha! - enough for her to think she has become some type of unknowing knife enabler!
🤓:thumbsup:

Do you know much about that white jack with the tip bolsters? Advertising knife? What maker is "B & B"? When were they in operation? Maybe I'll ask my daughter, who lives in St. Paul, to research the company.

Thanks Gary :) I mostly use the propane for the water heater and cook stove these days. I have a circa 1959 Montgomery Wards propane wall furnace that I used to use for heat, but several years ago (2008??) the propane market went into wild fluctuations to the point I felt it could no longer be relied upon, so I started using electric. The old wall furnace is a good backup since it requires no electricity.
Vista looks different today ☃️

Thanks for the reply, Mike. The places I've lived over 70 years have been heated a lot of different ways: coal, fuel oil, several hot water systems in schools, dorms, and apartments for which I have no clue how the boilers were heated, natural gas.
The snowy photos tend to make me sad, but that bonestag Case looks pretty good! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Voos knives don't get posted very often, Tim, but every time I see them, including your here, I'm very impressed by the bone! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Those knives make a handsome couple, Paul! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I can't quite make out the tang stamp on the top knife, Steve. Who's the maker?
A-1 pair! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Awesome animal knives! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Amazing. It seems the last three years have gone by quickly and dragged slowly at the same time.

I know what you mean about time since March 2020! o_O:rolleyes:

Had this one with me today, but didn’t have time to take a decent picture. Case chestnut is just perfect for this time of year…actually it’s about perfect anytime of the year. Hope everyone had a great day. 😎👍View attachment 1989795
I agree with you, Todd, on Case chestnut jigged bone! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Is yours a small Texas jack? I don't think I realized that they were made with chestnut jigged handles.

Nice knife, Taylor! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
(But I think I see one of those critters Primble Primble worries about on your main blade! :eek:)

I've never duck hunted but I can picture that, the view over water, looking at the gray sky through snowfall with the ducks coming in and setting their wings for a landing.
An awesome scene for sure. 👍

Pocketed some Osage around the house today myself.

That osage orange "punch whittler" is splendid, Greg, and those look like some ideal winter "house slippers", too! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I've been toting these two old friends for Tuesday. :)
JJ, that CJ is a Cool Jack! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

More than once. 🥴
Amazingly, I found it each time. Except for the last time.😔
Looking at it through a magnifying glass, I think I caused it by pressing it in so hard that I squeezed most of the super glue out, leaving only a very thin bit.

If I find it, I’ll know better. But I don’t love it any the less. Although I rarely show it off, it’s my most often carried knife.
...
Maybe if you can't find the shield, you can cut out a colorful paper one, or find a favorite small photo to cut to fit, and spread some kind of transparent epoxy/sealer over it. (If that works, you could patent your process. ;))

I'm armed to the teeth today! :D Have a good day everyone :thumbsup:

You ARE armed to the teeth; I wonder if anyone is ever toothed (teethed?) to the arms? 😁

I saw a knife with the same tang stamp and a handle advertising somebody's blue prints, so maybe B&B was actually a maker, but I don't know. When I bought the knife, i think I had some success googling it, but now all I get is bed and breakfasts.
I can't make my old post come up in a search, either.

Last Cherry Tomatoes of the season. I'll miss them when they are gone.
Boker BFF on my belt today.

That's my kind of photo Harry! :D :thumbsup:
Going to town for lunch at the Brass Rail Restaurant - Lamb Stew Wednesday and then to the Vet to pick up medicine for Coco and finally a stop at the Holiday Market for groceries. Since we're going to the Vet I think an animal related knife would be in order so, I'll tote this Lambfoot. Sausage and eggs for breakfast.

Hope you enjoyed your stew Ed :thumbsup:
I bought it maybe 10 or 15 years ago at an estate sale in an old farmhouse that hadn't changed hands in a long time. There was a wooden-works clock in a purpose-built niche in the kitchen, for instance.
I think the blade was cut out of a handsaw, and the wood just looks to me like it had been part of a partition in a barn. The other side is pale green.
That's fascinating Jer, it really has some character :cool: :thumbsup:

Yeah, I think the daughter feinted :eek: Incredible how easy it can be to injure yourself, I can think of several horrific injury/mundane circumstances stories offhand, but I'll spare you! :eek: :D :thumbsup:

I'm helping my pal out at the market tomorrow, and we're expecting heavy rain all day :rolleyes: Taking these two along ;) Have a good day everyone :thumbsup:

Thanks, Gary. Comfortable shoes and a good knife are necessities, along with a comfortable mattress so ya don't wake up each day with a backache.

These two in the pocket today. Fight'n Rooster and Western 522.

Good carry for tomorrow...hope the weather cooperates Jack.

The small Case lockback that I carry for my Son to have one day suffered a nearly identical handle break and I was kinda bummed. Then I said heck with it and had WAY more fun than I thought I could mixing paints and epoxy to get the color as close as I could. Built it up till it was close, sanded it to match and buffed it and the bolster to perfection and you couldnt tell it was done. THEEEEEEEEN I decided to keep messing with it and buffed it a little too hot I guess and it blackened some and you can now tell but whatever.

Part that kicked my butt is that I later found the missing piece in another pair of pants DOH!

EDIT: I just so happen to be carrying it so why not post a pic of the offending scale.

View attachment 1990294

Since I cant leave well enough alone, I might pick it out of the jigging and smooth it back out to try and make it that much more hidden. If it falls out Ill either re-do it OR try to get the original piece to fit back up.

Matt
That's a very nicely done job. :) 👍 Hang on to the missing piece in case the patch ever comes loose, but I doubt it ever will.
I decided to leave this one alone because I like the way a previous owner just kept carrying the knife until the edges of the broken part was worn smooth.
