Nice picture and a pretty pair!
👍🏼👍🏼
How do you like the Coon Skinner?
My yellow rose came yesterday but I still haven’t had a chance to ‘try it on’ …

Going to be quarantined for the next few days as my wife having spent the holiday with my daughter in NOLA tested positive for COVID19 yesterday. I stayed home and went to my son’s house for thanksgiving. Thankfully we are both fully vaccinated and she’s experiencing mild symptoms. We both managed to avoid covid for the last three years. Figured it was going to happen sooner or later. These two will go in my vest pocket today. 😃

Hope it passes quickly and neither of you have issues.

Thanks! I’m pretty happy with the Coon Skinner; I have one from a run in ‘13 but I’ve never used it. I’ve been carrying my Micarta one every day for two weeks and have used it to peel apples, eat lunch, cut string, and general light use. The Muskrat pattern is one of my favorites.

Cool, thanks.
I tend to lean towards smaller folders, right around 3-1/2 inches seems to be the sweet spot for me but lately I’ve been expanding my range in a few directions.
I do like the muskrat style blades and I love my 66 minks, so this seems like a natural reach …
Thanks again for sharing!

I'm still trying to make time to hammer out the details of a new weekly rotation schedule of what knives to carry. Looks like I might as well resign myself to starting it the first week of 2023. Until then, I'll continue to come up with some theme for the knives I carry each week. Finding weekly carry themes has been kind of interesting and challenging.

Now that Thanksgiving is past, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. So this week, I'm carrying red knives, since red is a classic Christmas color. I think it's all the red knives I have, not counting red celidor SAKs. I came up with a set of 12 knives, so I'll plan to post 2 per day.

Here's a big Böker stockman with red jigged bone covers that I won in a Will Power Will Power GAW once upon a time. It's a knife that earns high marks for both form and function.

I'm also carrying a Klaas mini canoe with "red pick bone". It's a pleasant knife, and smaller than standard canoes, but bigger than most mini canoes I've seen (Rough Ryder mini canoes, Case baby butterbeans).

Nice photo John. Love the little rattlers, makes me think I need to get mine out.

Two winners Pete, nice photo. 😎👍

Thanks, Buddy.
You know, I think this pattern could catch on. 🤪

Have to tell you I like your photos. As long as I can zoom in on my ifone, I don’t mind playing Where’s Waldo looking for the knives I know are there. 🤓
Nice to see the surroundings for your daily hike.

I’m on my way home from returning my Grand Daughters to their home in NW Georgia. Their Mom and her husband have a cabinet full of mason jars of moonshine. Some relative has a still back in the woods.
Somewhere around 180 proof. Since 200 proof is 100% pure alcohol, I’d guess it burns a bit going down.
They keep a shelf full of jars which they’ve mixed with fruit to make it drinkable.

Neither of them drink much, so I’d say they have forty years worth.

When we lived in the Ozarks, Grandpa had a source right out of folk lore. There was a dirt track that was not on any maps off of a deadend gravel road, and if you were entrusted to know how to find it, there was a hollow stump. You put your money in the stump, came back the next day, and there’d be a pint mason jar of white lightning in the stump.
Memories…

I imagine your homemade stuff is a lot more drinkable.
Haha great story! Yeah, mines just a sweet wine. Although, my neighbor gets the hulls and seeds from me, mixes with his home harvested honey and makes a distilled liquor. He hasn’t made any since him and I have developed a friendship, and I can’t wait to try it hehe.
