What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Couldn't decide, so I picked both. :D

Ha! Is that a 1026? What a coincidence, I just got a used 1026 in the mail today. Fun thing -it's in my pocket right now-, especially since it cost me 5usd :-) (well, next to another 5 for shipping :().

That's the one! I just held mine up to the monitor and even the 'jigging' pattern on the scales is the same.

Funny how it goes -- I'd never even heard of these before Saturday, and then another pops up right after.

I had the Otter with me at work, but it saw very little use.

When I got back in, the woods were calling, so I donned my scruffs :) and picked up my Mini Peasant. Easy to find....just in case.

When I sit this opinel down next to the inspiration for the design I attempted I really see how much I could learn :)

Kevin I love the checkering you did on the Opinel. I have been admiring it every time it's posted. Wish is had the tools and skills to do something like that to mine. The rifle looks really sweet too. What is it? Anschutz?

I've got to agree - the checkering on that Opinel looks great!
I love texture like that, the closest I have is my GEC #42 Beaver Tail, and it doesn't even look close to the amount of texture on yours....

Thank you SO much, guys. It means a lot to me. The rifle is a Weatherby Mark XXII .17 HMR Rifle that I mounted a Leupold VX3 2.5-8 36mm on top of. The scope rides litterally a mm or two above the barrel. I put a lot of research into the scope and mounts to get it as low as possible.

As for the checkering, I did no research and probably used the wrong file, eyeballing it all. If anyone wants to try I would suggest it because it was about the easiest carving I have done on wood. I only used one file and clamped the handle in leather in my vise. It took about 30 minutes. With some research, the correct file (s) I think some truly impressive results could be accomplished. The linseed oil is finally curing and the color and sheen is coming out more natural as I had hoped.

The texture is so awesome in hand I want to get better at this and try again :)

Thank you all, its nice to hear such kind words.

Kevin

I love this knife--what do you call it and where is it from? I might need one...

Cheers,

this a " Navette " by Robert Beillonet
We can place an order by email. It is a very kind sir and an enthusiast of knives. On the other hand the deadlines(extensions) are a little bit long. I enter my order and the reception of the knife, I waited 9 months.

Here are some other examples of that " Navette " mister Beillonet realized with different size.
