Ive had this one for a while, a score from ebay. I just started carrying it and instantly it just felt right, i like to think about who carried it before me and wore the bone thin and sharpened the blades down. It still has lots of life left.

I had never heard of the term “fettling” until @r8shell and Jack Black used it here.
The first thing I thought was Be Careful How You Say That. Like the old word “Farding”, which means applying makeup.

Sure is pretty, but I can feel your pain. I don’t have to warn you about that “heart attack snow” bit. Glad you pace yourself!
I’m with your wife ~ I enjoy relocating and rearranging snow. I even have a favorite shovel, but I prefer the long handled plow type. None of that back wrenching you get with a short handled one.
My shovel has been rebuilt many times. The blade fatigued and broke off from the rivets. I attached a flat bar of steel behind it, and bolted it together with brass machine screws.
I like those boots!

When I go to Mom’s house, I always bring a few sharpening tools. She puts all of her kitchen knives in the dishwasher, banging the edges against the other silverware.
Hard to tell an 85 year old woman what to do in her own kitchen.

Not toting any of these but I had some vintage catalogs out for some artifact ID purposes, decided to look at pocket knife page and then threw on some knives for effect.

I got my bike Bike back today, at minus 7 Centigrade perfect weather for a cycle (only way I could get back was collect from the store and ride it home)

It was icy,slippy,cold and hard work as the battery ran out (they forgot to charge it).

Strangely, though I fell over,was exhausted and thought I was going to have a heart attack I enjoyed it.

The canal/river was frozen in places,unusual in England down south.


Yes,yes I know I shouldnt wheel my bike throught the supermarket to get to the Cafe at the back.

But I aint going to have this one nicked.

I had a Sausage bap,a flat white and a tasty Danish (thats a pastry by the way not a chica).
